Eric Bana & Danny Huston Are 'Elvis & Nixon' for Director Cary Elwes

Richard Nixon and Elvis Presley

In what seems like it could almost be some kind of peculiar prequel to the Ron Howard directed drama Frost/Nixon, actor Cary Elwes, best known for his roles in films like The Princess Bride and Robin Hood: Men in Tights, will make his feature directorial debut with Elvis & Nixon, a film following the interesting visit that iconic musician Elvis Presley paid to President Richard M. Nixon at the White House on December 21st, 1970. THR has word on the film which has Eric Bana (Munich, Funny People) set to play "The King" with Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Edge of Darkness) playing "Tricky Dick." More below!

Brian Grazer Says Big Budget Cuts Means 'Dark Tower' Will Get Made

The Dark Tower

Back in July the disappointing decision came from Universal Pictures to pass on the ambitious film and television adaptation of Stephen King's book series The Dark Tower, but there was hope that the project might end up at another studio, or scale back its budget enough to allow the film to move forward. Now it sounds like the project may still come together as The Playlist recently spoke with Ron Howard's producing partner Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment who revealed that they have been able to cut a significant amount out of the budget, and the changes made actually benefited the film creatively as well. More below!

J.C. Richard's Stunning New 'Jurassic Park' Mondo Poster Unveiled

Jurassic Park Mondo Poster

Life found a way. One of the best short 'n sweet taglines for a movie ever. Mondo Tees has debuted the official poster for the Blu-Ray release of Jurassic Park this week. While they've had one Jurassic Park poster before, made for one of the Mystery Movies, this is the one you've all been waiting to see. Designed by J.C. Richard, the stunning poster features a look at the brachiosauruses from the "tree scene" in the first movie. Movies.com calls it a "striking departure for the shop" in its photo-realism, simplicity, and its subtle beauty of capturing the essence of the film without using bold design elements. I agree, this looks fantastic.

Watch: Another Official Trailer for Martin Scorsese's 'Hugo' 3D Arrives

Hugo 3D Trailer

"Once upon a time I met a boy named Hugo Cabret..." Haven't seen enough yet? Paramount has debuted yet another official trailer via Apple for Martin Scorsese's Hugo 3D, which is coming down to its final month of marketing before hitting theaters. This trailer is a much more emotional, story-driven look at what makes this look like a wonderful film full of emotion, mystery and adventure. Hugo stars Asa Butterfield and Chloe Moretz. There's less Sacha Baron Cohen in this trailer and more Ben Kingsley, but it still looks great. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this, even if it looks like a good family film. Take a look!

Joss Whedon Secretly Made a New Film - 'Much Ado About Nothing'

Much Ado About Nothing

Wait, back up a minute, Joss Whedon - director of Marvel's The Avengers (which has been shooting) - made another film? When?! Announced via the Whedon regulars (e.g. Nathan Fillion, Amy Acker, Sean Maher) on twitter recently, a new website has popped up for a project titled Much Ado About Nothing - indeed based on the William Shakespeare play, a "film by Joss Whedon" - that has purportedly reached the "completion of principal photography." The cast features Acker, Fillion, Alexis Denisof and many others. I'm not sure whether to believe this is real, but Fillion tweets "Oh, it's real. Very. Very. Real." What is this?

Watch: First Insane Red Band Teaser Trailer for 'The ABCs of Death'

The ABCs of Death Teaser Trailer

Whoa! This debuted last week, but we just say today thanks to AICN and it's wacky, wild, R-rated as all hell, and awesome. IGN posted a first very red band teaser trailer for Drafthouse Films' The ABCs of Death, an anthology horror project that will feature a total of 26 shorts created by various horror directors and one budding filmmaker. This trailer is look at the incredibly wide range of submissions they've had so far for the 26th slot, as they'll ultimately only be able to choose one of the submissions. Either way, there's some very crazy footage in this, and it's a must watch for anyone who can stomach it (and is not at work). Enjoy!

Watch: First Trailer 'Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace' in 3D

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D Trailer

The greatest saga of all-time... is coming to the big screen! Yep, here comes the hard sell. As promised with the poster a few weeks ago, the official 3D re-release trailer for George Lucas' Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace is now playing in theaters with The Three Musketeers. The trailer has also hit the web on Apple (via Collider), but I'm not sure what's up with the colors, though I think it's because we may only be seeing one eye of the 3D. Oh and it's not really in 3D, obviously. There's not much Jar Jar, thankfully, but we get plenty of Darth Maul and the space battles. And Ewan McGregor screaming, briefly. Qui-Gon!

Warner Bros is Choosing Ben Affleck for 'The Stand' Instead of Yates

The Stand

Just a few months ago we wrote that screenwriter Steve Kloves and director David Yates were reteaming for a feature adaptation of Stephen King's massive post-apocalyptic novel The Stand. We now have an update on the project in development at Warner Bros/CBS Films, as Deadline says that they've actually "chosen" actor-turned-filmmaker Ben Affleck to direct The Stand movie, not Yates. Affleck is currently filming his hostage crisis film Argo for the studio. Deadline says WB "loves Affleck" and is their choice. I wonder if he has gotten word from the studio yet, as that's how fast this kind of news gets around Hollywood. Read on!

AFF Review: Sean Durkin's Tense Drama 'Martha Marcy May Marlene'

Martha Marcy May Marlene Review

Filmmaker Sean Durkin builds his debut cinematic house that is Martha Marcy May Marlene with unsettling hallways, firm base, and a precision in the walls he pulls from his actors to create a magnificent work of dream and disquiet. Aided by the punch of its fine actors, the film proves what a gifted storyteller can bring to the simple technique of creatively shooting fine actors delivering powerful dialogue. It's a stunning film about being lost, about the myth of normalcy, and the horrors that come when the shadowed predators who take advantage reveal themselves. Elizabeth Olsen in the starring role gives a memorable

Mouth Taped Shut Viral Hunt Leads to 'Dragon Tattoo' Framed Flower

Flower from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

We've got a big update to the recent viral hunt started with the accident video clip from David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Yes, this viral is actually getting very interesting, leading to very rare and collectible objects. A new website was found via a message hidden in the crash clip. That launched an online marker for a pick-up in San Diego that was never made before a timer ran out. Today, a marker launched for a location in Los Angeles, downtown. One of the readers at SlashFilm picked it up - and it's a framed flower, a real replica from the film (see in the trailer), that's one of the pieces of art that Vanger receives every year.

Warner Bros Sets 3 More 2012 Movies in IMAX - Wrath, Jack, Gravity

Warner Bros IMAX

Hot on the heels of the news that a six-minute prologue for The Dark Knight Rises will be playing in front of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol this December, Warner Bros has announced three more 2012 movies that will be showing in IMAX. A few years back, WB announced a slate of 20 films for IMAX, ranging from the final Harry Potters to Happy Feet Two and Dark Shadows, plus The Hobbit movies, of course. Joining those ranks are Jonathan Liebesman's Wrath of the Titans, Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Killer, and Alfonso CuarĂ³n's sci-fi Gravity. Alas, none of these have any footage shot on IMAX, but are being DMR'd.
