The Nutcracker

After Hairspray hit theaters in 2007, director Adam Shankman proved he could do more than just choreograph dance numbers, and his next musical endeavor, an adaptation of the Broadway jukebox musical Rock of Ages, will hit theaters next year. Now Shankman is poised to take on another high profile project that has seen countless iterations on the stage and screen. Deadline has word that the filmmaker will be at the helm of a new take on the classic holiday fairytale The Nutcracker for New Line Cinema, the Warner Bros. based studio that just delivered a present in the form of A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas.

Must Watch: Awesome Animated Tribute to Ryan Gosling in 'Drive'

Drive Animated Tribute

Some Heroes Are Real. Thanks to a tip from Bleeding Cool, we found this rather awesome animated tribute to Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive, starring Ryan Gosling as the Driver. It was created by Bruno et Tom on Vimeo, aka Tom Haugomat & Bruno Mangyoku, and is a quick 60-sec recap of some of the best moments. It's just badass. I was waiting for this happen, when I first saw Drive in Cannes I knew it would have an amazing cult appeal, and was waiting for it to be released, so we could finally see awesome art and tributes like this that have been pouring in ever since. If you loved Drive as much as us, then you've got to see this!

Must Watch: TIFF Audience Winner 'The Raid' Full Indonesian Trailer

The Raid Trailer

Oh this deserves a Must Watch no question! One of my favorite films coming out of TIFF, hell one of my favorite action films in years, was Gareth Evans' The Raid, an insanely badass Indonesian film starring Joe Taslim. As soon as my glowing review hit, they dropped a teaser trailer that many seemed to like. Now that Sony Classics has confirmed they're releasing this in US theaters next spring, Twitch has unveiled a full-length Indonesian trailer and holy sh*t you guys in for a treat. Thankfully the MPAA doesn't exist there, so this is a no-holds barred trailer showing about as much violent action as they can pack into two minutes.

Julia Roberts to Produce & Star in 'Second Act' Workplace Comedy

Julia Roberts

Considering the fact that her villainous turn in Mirror, Mirror looks more silly than diabolical, maybe it's time Julia Roberts got back to the intentional comedies that made her the superstar she is today. Though Larry Crowne had the potential to get her back on track, that box office flop just didn't cut it on any level. However, THR reports the actress is now slated to produce and star in a new workplace comedy called Second Act, the story of a woman who has never worked a day in her life but suddenly finds herself forced into the real world and must find a job. Sounds pretty simple, but there's likely a romance somewhere too.

Viral Warning Signs for Alien Invasion 'The Darkest Hour' Revealed

The Darkest Hour Warning Signs

Caution - Dogs Not Safe! There's supposedly a viral underway for Summit's new sci-fi The Darkest Hour that involves warning signs found in real-life, similar to District 9. I haven't seen mention of these before today, so I'm not sure where they were displayed originally, but Summit has emailed us photos of all four of the signs they made. The Darkest Hour, starring Emile Hirsch and Olivia Thirlby, is about aliens made of electrical energy that can't be seen unless they attack. You've probably seen a trailer or two, it looks okay. The signs relate to the imagery from the movie, including the dog being disintegrated by the alien invaders.

First Look: Daniel Day-Lewis as Lincoln from Spielberg's New Movie

Daniel Day-Lewis as Lincoln

Spielberg is on a roll, finishing up War Horse and Tintin for release, and already in production on his next film Lincoln. While I'm excited for War Horse, Lincoln already has me just as excited, mostly to see how Daniel Day-Lewis will play our 16th President, since we know he's a full-on method actor. I saw a tweet the other day mention that apparently Day-Lewis hasn't broken his accent since March, or something to that effect. I've been waiting for a first look and here we are - this should instantly make you go "whoa!" A photo is making the rounds (via Richmond/SlashFilm) of Day-Lewis out dining with the full-on beard. Awesome.

'Lord of the Rings' Feast - A Day of Middle Earth Dining at the Movies

Lord of the Rings Feast

When Executive Chef John Bullington became a part of the Alamo Drafthouse family back in 2004, one of the ideas he brought with him was to show all three Lord of the Rings films, all 12 hours of them, Extended Editions and all, and serve a feast fit for a Hobbit with much of the same food the characters are talking about in the films. It was a brilliant idea, one that the Drafthouse has executed literally a dozen times now. Luckily, this past weekend, mere days after stuffing my face with all kinds of Thanksgiving sustenance, I was able to experience this feast and all the incredible accoutrements that came with it.

'The Full Monty' Director to Helm New 'Bridget Jones Diary' Sequel

Bridget Jones Diary

Back in July, a little while after Bridesmaids became a surprise hit at the box office, the film's director Paul Feig seemed to be lining up to direct a Bridget Jones Diary sequel, the third in the romantic comedy series. However, Feig just didn't jive with the British sensibilities of the franchise as Universal and Working Title had hoped. Now Deadline reports The Full Monty director and London native Peter Cattaneo is in talks to take on the sequel that intends to bring back Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. Production is slated to begin sometime next year, with Feig's most recent draft of the script still in play.

Star Trek / Alice Eve

Just before Thanksgiving it was revealed that not only would composer and regular J.J Abrams collaborator Michael Giacchino return to score the developing Star Trek sequel, but the film is now set for a May 17th, 2013 release in 3D. Rumors that Benicio del Toro being up for the villain role have also surfaced, and Abrams himself has actually confirmed talks with the actor, but now another new cast member has surfaced. Watch: Rupert Grint in First Trailer for Petter Næss's 'Into the White'

Into the White Trailer

"May I introduce you to the beautiful Norwegian countryside!" Take a look at a trailer for a film I had never heard of until today, but looks pretty damn good, even compared to The Grey. It's called Into the White, directed by Norwegian Petter Næss, and is a WWII-set survival thriller. It stars an international cast lead by Rupert Grint, of Harry Potter fame, as well as Florian Lukas, David Kross, Stig Henrik Hoff and Lachlan Nieboer. It's about two groups of pilots from opposite sides who shoot each other down but must stay at the same cabin to survive. The trailer is mostly in English with some German, but it looks quite good.
