Tony Scott is Making a Return to Nautical Thrillers with 'Narco Sub'
While most of the film industry was on vacation for Thanksgiving break, there are some who apparently took the opportunity to close some deals in Hollywood. Word comes from Variety that Fox picked up an action thriller spec script from David Guggenheim (the writer behind Safe House starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds and forthcoming projects like Medallion and Puzzle Palace) called Narco Sub. In addition, the studio has director Tony Scott (Unstoppable, Top Gun) set to make a return to nautical thrillers for the first time since directing Crimson Tide (which also starred Washington) in 1995.

Angelina Jolie Planning to Direct a Film About the War in Afghanistan
From The Hurt Locker to Green Zone and In the Valley of Elah to documentaries like Restrepo, there have been dozens of films focusing on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The trend has died down for the most part, but a new face to the directing world has an eye on telling a new story heading back to the battleground of the Middle East. CBS (via The Playlist) recently sat down with Angelina Jolie, fresh off her first directing gig behind the camera of the Bosnian War romantic drama In the Land of Blood and Honey, and the actress turned filmmaker revealed that she wants to direct yet another war movie set in Afghanistan.

New Red Poster for 'John Carter' Here Before New Trailer on Thursday
With a brief and mostly mysterious teaser trailer only giving us a hint of what to expect with Disney's epic John Carter, we're left to wonder just what director Andrew Stanton can do with a live-action, western-style sci-fi landscape and a cast that includes Taylor Kitsch and Willem Dafoe. A recent picture gave us another piece of the action with a pivotal creature in the story, and while this new poster doesn't really do much in the vein of revelation, it's still a rather stylish poster, and it at least delivers the red of Mars without the planet appearing in the film's title. You can now watch the new John Carter trailer here!

First Two 'Men in Black 3' Teaser Posters Found + New Website URL
Take a good look. Found in the wild at theaters this weekend were two teaser posters for Men in Black 3, directed again by Barry Sonnenfeld. There's one for Will Smith, returning as Agent J, and one for Tommy Lee Jones, returning as Agent K. The faces for each are made up of hundreds of tiny MIB3 logos of varying levels of darkness, and there's even a "hidden" URL. Our friends at Collider snapped a shot of Agent K, as neither of these have officially hit the web yet, and our reader "Guts Spill" from New Jersey sent us the shot of Agent J, both seen below. Plus there's a new website, at least a URL, hidden in the logos. Can you find it?

Michael Apted Takes Over 'Of Men and Mavericks' from Curtis Hanson
Sometimes you hear about trouble behind the scenes of major films, and replacing a key figure like a director means bad news for the production. However, in this case, the primary concern is with the health of an accomplished filmmaker as Deadline reports Michael Apted will finish the final 15 days of principal photography on the surfing drama Of Men and Mavericks starring Gerard Butler after director Curtis Hanson (L.A. Confidential) has experienced health complications following a recent heart surgery. Apted begins working today on the film chronicling the life of big wave surfer Jay Moriarity in Northern California.

Bret McKenzie Says a 'Flight of the Conchords' Movie is in the Works
After two fantastically hilarious seasons, the HBO comedy series Flight of the Conchords delivered a satisfying series finale, but fans all agreed that the end had come far too soon. The series stars and comedic folk musicians Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie have each been busy in their own right with the former taking roles in Despicable Me and Men in Black III next year and the latter returning to work with Peter Jackson on The Hobbit (after an infamous cameo in Lord of the Rings) and writing songs for The Muppets (watch him sing with Kermit). But now the duo might return for a Flight of the Conchords movie!

'Tommy' and 'Women in Love' Director Ken Russell Has Passed Away
Though the product of his unique filmmaking eye hasn't been prominent on the big screen for many years, director Ken Russell has certainly left his mark on filmmaking with his groundbreaking adaptation D.H. Lawrence's novel Women in Love and his take on The Who's rock opera Tommy. However, we have sad news for our return from the long Thanksgiving break as The Guardian reports Russell has passed away at age 84. Russell is best known for the controversy his films stirred, especially following the male wrestling scene in Women in Love which featured full frontal male nudity, but that didn't stop Oscar nominations.

Spike Lee's 'Oldboy' Remake Will Apparently Have a Darker Ending?
While many fans of the original film have been skeptical of a remake every since Steven Spielberg and Will Smith were involved, the new version of Park Chan-wook's Oldboy from director Spike Lee already sounds promising with Josh Brolin taking the lead role and an offer out to Colin Firth to play the villain of the film. But what about the story itself? After all, the original film has a different ending than the manga on which the first film was based, so how will this film treat the story? Collider recently had a chat with producer Roy Lee, the man behind Japanese horror remakes like The Ring, who teased some small details.

Indie Trailer Sunday: Kellan Lutz is a LAX Hero in 'A Warrior's Heart'
Oh this is a good one. Not really. Since there's not much else to feature, today's Indie Trailer Sunday is for a teenage sports drama for the sport of lacrosse, you know that one with those sticks, called A Warrior's Heart. Best of all, it stars everyone's favorite actors - Twilight's Kellan Lutz, Twilight's Ashley Greene, Glee star Chord Overstreet as well as Gabrielle Anwar, William Mapother and Adam Beach, who looks to be the only one putting in a good performance. It looks immensely cheesy but if you love lacrosse (or LAX), which I actually used to play, you might find this interesting. But boy does it look terrible. Enjoy!

Sneak Peek Review: Cameron Crowe's Wonderful 'We Bought a Zoo'
Sometimes you go in to see a movie, unsure of really what to expect, and it sweeps you away, connects with you emotionally in ways you didn't think possible, then the tears start flowing without any control. That's what happened to me seeing Cameron Crowe's new movie We Bought a Zoo at the sneak previews held Saturday evening; it's one of the most endearing, heartwarming, joyful films I've seen this year (so far). Part of this is thanks to Crowe, his direction and cast, another part of it is thanks to Jónsi's amazing score, which I wholeheartedly believe deserves Oscar recognition. I love this film, it filled my heart with true happiness.

Updated 'The Dark Knight Rises' Images + Quotes from Christian Bale
Nothing like a little Bane, Catwoman—oh and Batman defending Gotham—to brighten this Thanksgiving weekend. Our friends at ComingSoon have posted a few higher res scans from the Empire issue focusing on The Dark Knight Rises, that last week we revealed two cover shots for, as well as some shoddy internal scans and, more importantly, exciting quotes. The newer scans of the photos from the mag are definitely worth seeing, and in addition to those, Christian Bale also spoke with Inquirer about working with both Tom Hardy as Bane and Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in the film, praising both for their acting skills.
