Full International Trailer for 'Journey 2: The Mysterious Island' Sequel

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

"I am going to show you something that will take your breath away." As there aren't any other new trailers to watch this weekend, here's the latest international trailer for New Line's Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, the 3D sequel to the cheesy CGI adventure movie Journey to the Center of the Earth. We already got an official teaser trailer for this a few weeks ago, but this new trailer is much more serious and intense, there's not a lick of comedy in it (thankfully). Journey 2 stars Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson, Vanessa Hudgens, Luis Guzmán and Michael Caine as "grandpa!" If you're interested, view it below.

Stunning New Official Poster for Jean-Jacques Annaud's 'Black Gold'

Jean-Jacques Annaud's Black Gold

Tarak Ben Ammar Presents... Wait, who? Our friends at IMPAwards recently found and posted an official poster for Jean-Jacques Annaud's Black Gold, and it definitely has a Lawrence of Arabia meets There Will Be Blood feeling to it, that's for sure. It's a stunning poster and makes me even more excited for this, which we featured an official international trailer for just a few months ago. The film stars Tahar Rahim, Mark Strong, Antonio Banderas and Freida Pinto, all four of whom can be seen below (as floating heads) in the rising black smoke from a burning oil well. Even more impressive this wasn't made by Hollywood at all.

Jean-Pierre Jeunet to Direct English-Language 'T.S. Spivet' Adaptation

Jean-Pierre Jeunet / T.S. Spivet

Acclaimed, Oscar nominated French filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Delicatessen, City of Lost Children, Alien: Resurrection, Amélie) is set to direct his next feature after Micmacs, following in the footsteps of Martin Scorsese and taking on an adaptation that's a family film. Deadline reports that production company Gaumont has Jeunet set to direct an adaptation of Reif Larsen's 2009 novel The Selected Works Of T.S. Spivet, about a 12-year-old cartographer who one day receives a call from The Smithsonian informing him he's won a prestigious prize. Shooting will start in Spring 2012 in Canada with a release later in 2013.

Ben Whishaw is Playing a Young Q in Sam Mendes' 'Skyfall' Bond 23

Ben Whishaw / Q

"Must you touch everything?" Well this is odd casting, but we'll have to accept it. THR is reporting that Ben Whishaw (in Layer Cake, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, The Tempest, Cloud Atlas) will be playing a young agent Q in Sam Mendes' Bond 23, officially titled Skyfall, now shooting in England. Q is an iconic character from the original movies, played by one of my all-time favorite actors Desmond Llewelyn (seen right above), and hasn't appeared in the new Daniel Craig reboot yet. I didn't expect this kind of casting to be confirmed, but here we go. THR simply says that Whishaw is "reported to have been assigned the role."

Review: 'Hugo' is an Impassioned Work of Art By a Master Filmmaker

Martin Scorsese's Hugo Review

Hugo is arguably director Martin Scorsese's most personal work to date, a love letter to the pioneers of Golden Age filmmaking and a beautifully constructed - in 3D, no less - tale of the magic in the art that has long since believed lost. Scorsese brushes every stroke of this work with care and admiration, even when the film is more slapstick kiddie fare than the real passion he allows to bleed through in Hugo's last half. Always exquisite but never gaudy, the film, and its filmmaker, realizes the settings and story with child-like wonder to the point where even when the mystery has been unfolded, the magic is still allowed to awe us.

Michael Giacchino Returning to Score JJ's 'Star Trek 2', Out May 2013

Michael Giacchino / Star Trek

Engage! While this isn't anything less than expected, it's great to hear confirmation nonetheless. Whenever I get to write about composer news, I always turn on some of their recent work, and this time I'm more than happy to fire up the score for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, one of my favorites. ComingSoon spoke with composer Michael Giacchino recently, who has a full slate between Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, "Alcatraz" and Andrew Stanton's John Carter coming up, and he confirmed "yes, I'll be back" to score J.J.'s untitled Star Trek sequel, which starts shooting in January. "I'll be there just as soon as they finish it," he stated.

Intricate Infographic Shows Martin Scorsese is a Man for All Genres

Martin Scorsese

With the release of Hugo today, director Martin Scorsese has delivered his first foray into family friendly films. While the average moviegoer likely recognizes Scorsese's name with gritty crime dramas like GoodFellas, The Departed and more, it might be surprising to learn that Scorsese has delved into dark comedies, documentaries, a handful of musical projects, a couple biopics, and even a sequel to a film he didn't originally direct. Now a new infographic shows Scorsese can tackle pretty much any material from Raging Bull to New York, New York and Taxi Driver to The King of Comedy. See the chart below!
