'Tomb Raider' Franchise Reboot Sounds Like a Lara Croft Origin Story

Tomb Raider

Earlier this year, GK Films, the production company from The Departed and The Town producer Graham King, picked up the rights to reboot the feature film adaptation of the hit video game franchise Tomb Raider. Then a couple months later it was reported Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, the duo behind screenplays for films like Iron Man, Children of Men and most recently Cowboys & Aliens would write the script. Now we have word from an interview Collider had with King that the script has been turned in and it sounds like the film will go back to the beginning of Lara Croft's career as an archaeologist and adventurer.

Watch: First Trailer for Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' 3D Re-Release

Beauty and the Beast 3D

After the box office success of the theatrical re-release The Lion King in 3D earlier this year, it was no surprise to learn that Disney was ready with an onslaught of more theatrical re-releases of Disney's films in 3D. Just recently we debuted the first poster for Beauty and the Beast, the next film headed to the third dimension, and now Disney has released the first trailer to entice audiences back into the theaters for the tale as old as time all over again. There was a trailer back in 2010 when an earlier re-release was planned, but this new trailer is longer, and gets me excited to see the film in theaters all over again. Watch below!

'Game of Thrones' & 'The Killing' Stars Set to Lead 'Arthur & Lancelot'

Kit Harington / Joel Kinniman

Recently we learned that director Bryan Singer had some time to focus on his big screen adaptation of Battlestar Galactica since his Excalibur film was pushed aside by Warner Bros. in favor of Arthur & Lancelot, a project from Wedding Crashers director David Dobkin that was picked up by the studio this past June for $2 million. Now Variety has word on the official casting for the two titular lead roles with HBO's "Game of Thrones" star Kit Harington and AMC's "The Killing" star Joel Kinniman playing Arthur and Lancelot respectively. In addition, the plot has finally been revealed for the new medieval epic.

Ethan Hawke & Julie Delpy Look to Write Another 'Before Sunrise' Film

Before Sunset

Nearly two years ago, some surprise talks came from Ethan Hawke about the potential of another film in a surprising film series that started with Before Sunrise and continued with Before Sunset. At the time, Hawke had been kicking around some ideas with director Richard Linklater and co-star Julie Delpy (who both also wrote the film with Hawke) for a return to the romancing characters who spent an all-nighter in Vienna back in 1995. Now Hawke is stirring the pot again, but now it sounds like there's more potential for the film to come together with plans to start writing the sequel sometime before the end of the year.

It's Official: Martin Scorsese to Direct the Adaptation of 'The Snowman'

Martin Scorsese / The Snowman

Towards the end of October, there were rumblings that director Martin Scorsese would follow his foray into children's material with the adaptation of Hugo by taking on a project that would bring him back to dark crime drama in the form of an adaptation of Jo Nesbo's Norwegian thriller The Snowman. Now THR has word that Scorsese is indeed confirmed to be at the helm of the film after the author himself gave approval and revealed the news to an unnamed Swedish newspaper. The seventh novel in a series featuring Nesbo's recurring detective Harry Hole sees the investigator looking into gruesome killings in Oslo, Norway.

Nolan Reveals When 'The Dark Knight Rises' is Set + New Bane Cover

The Dark Knight Rises

"Brutal." Boy, Empire is milking this TDKR piece, but I can't blame them, this is good stuff. Following up the cover debuts over the weekend, Empire has posted a few snippets of quotes from the inside of the issue that features director Christopher Nolan talking about some details from The Dark Knight Rises you might want to hear. On top of that, as expected, an alternate cover shot of Tom Hardy as Bane has showed up (see below in full) and more scans of photos from inside are hitting, so expect to see more posts about this Empire TDKR reveal soon. For now, Nolan first reveals how long after The Dark Knight this picks up.

Indie Trailer Sunday: Jérôme Salle's 'The Heir Apparent: Largo Winch'

The Heir Apparent: Largo Winch Official Trailer

"You're a Winch, Largo. What matters is your future." Today's indie trailer, the first in a little while, is for another awesome Belgian graphic novel adaptation other than Tintin, this one titled The Heir Apparent: Largo Winch, based on the Largo Winch series. Tomer Sisley, who also stars in our French favorite Sleepless Night, plays Largo Winch. The cast also includes Miki Manojlovic, Kristin Scott Thomas and Mélanie Thierry. This looks somewhat like if a corporate CEO's heir was an action movie superstar, with a tinge of Michael Bay. One thing is for sure - this confirms that Tomer Sisley is truly badass. Check this out!

Check This Out: Barry Blankenship's 'Plan 9 from Outer Space' Poster

Barry Blankenship's Plan 9 Poster Art

A flying saucer? Sometimes I come across some poster art for a classic film that is just too awesome to pass up, and that's how I feel about designer Barry Blankenship's artwork for Plan 9 from Outer Space, Ed Wood Jr's infamous worst film ever made. I was emailed about the poster, as it's also promoting a screening event that I wish I could attend, happening up in Seattle on December 8 in a few weeks. They're hosting a showing of Plan 9 complete with two Mystery Science Theater commentators and comedian Dana Gould. If anyone's interested, you can get info/tickets from SIFF. I quite like the poster, great design for a fun event.

Check Out This Fantastic Japanese Poster for Reitman's 'Young Adult'

Young Adult Poster

This is what I'm talking about! I haven't much liked the official posters, even this one, for Jason Reitman's new film Young Adult, starring Charlize Theron (trailer) as a bitchy young adult novel writer who goes back to her hometown to find her high school sweetheart. The latest one released was just pitiful, so bad I didn't even want to post it, but now we've got something to redeem it. Found by IMPAwards is a Japanese poster for the film, and I love the design. Visually eye-catching, unique, captures the different shades of the character, this is the kind of poster I've wanted to see! Even better than those artistic posters. Check it out!

Empire's New 'The Dark Knight Rises' Batman & Bane Covers Unveiled

Empire's The Dark Knight Rises Cover

What the *Batman* is that? Empire has been running a viral voting game the last few days asking fans to choose which cover of their new issue gets unveiled first - Batman or Bane. The covers are for The Dark Knight Rises and are Empire's "world's first" TDKR mag covers. Once enough votes were cast (about 160K on Saturday), the Bane cover was revealed. It looks badass, nothing we haven't seen before, but I'm more intrigued by Batman—what the heck is he holding, some newfangled UV Bat-binoculars, perhaps? You can see the Bane cover in full below and most of what's revealed of the Batman cover so far, too. Bah-Sah-Rah!

Watch: Promo Trailer for Survival Thriller 'The Grey' with Liam Neeson

The Grey Trailer

"Fill me with only what I need to fight." Wow, this looks much better than I was expecting! A brand new full-length trailer for Joe Carnahan's The Grey, starring Liam Neeson as one survivor of a plane crash in the Alaskan wilderness, has hit the web thanks to BoxofficeBuz. We featured the first teaser trailer back in September, but this is the full-on story trailer and whoa, does it look fantastic. There's a lot more depth to the characters, how Neeson is introduced to his fellow workers, the balance of insanity and his visions of his wife, the fear and intensity, it looks amazing, honestly, I am impressed. Now I truly cannot wait to see this!
