Watch: Full-Length Featurette for Moscow Sci-Fi 'The Darkest Hour'

The Darkest Hour Featurette

"This film will offer a ton of bullets and explosions and it's gunna feel like an adventure in a very foreign place." That's your hard sales pitch right there. A full-length featurette for Chris Gorak's sci-fi The Darkest Hour has hit the web uploaded by an international distributor on YouTube. The video focuses partially on Moscow and shooting the film in Russia, as well as the story and how it all unfolds when an alien invasion occurs there. The featurette has the cast of young actors, Emile Hirsch, Rachael Taylor, Olivia Thirlby and Max Minghella, talking about their characters and storyline. I still think this looks kind of awesome!

First Look: Matthew McConaughey as Mud in Jeff Nichols' Film 'Mud'

Jeff Nichols' Mud

Anyone else think he looks a little too obvious for a character named Mud in a film titled Mud? That said, Jeff Nichols, who directed staff favorite Take Shelter this year as well, is a very talented filmmaker on the rise and I trust he knows what he's doing. Once set to star Chris Pine, the project is a drama centered on two teenage boys who encounter a fugitive (Mud, played by Matthew McConaughey) and pact to help him escape from an island in the Mississippi. Empire has a first look photo from set, as it's currently shooting, and it's a worth a quick glance. "Mud's a dreamer," McConaughey explains. "He's an aristocrat of the heart."

First Look Photos: DiCaprio, Mulligan & Maguire in 'The Great Gatsby'

The Great Gatsby

We're taking a moment to feature these first look photos because, while they are indeed just some set photos from Sydney, Australia, they're perfect first look shots from Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby. They don't reveal anything and are simply good first looks at the costumes, and facial expressions, of the primary cast of this adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic. Tobey Maguire stars as Nick Carraway, meeting Daisy Buchanan, played by Carey Mulligan, and Jay Gatsby, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. All three of them can be seen strolling through Sydney Centennial Park thanks to Celebuzz, tip via SlashFilm. See below!

Watch: First Official Trailer for Madonna's New Romantic Drama 'W.E.'

Madonna's W.E. Trailer

"I have never known one person so utterly possessed by another as he was by her." The official trailer has finally been unveiled via Moviefone for Madonna's W.E., the second feature film she's directed, a romantic drama intertwining two love stories in two different time periods, one of them being the "most infamous scandal of the 20th century." The drama stars Abbie Cornish, Richard Coyle, James D'Arcy, Oscar Isaac, Annabelle Wallis and Andrea Riseborough. It received dismal reviews at its Venice premiere and the trailer holds up looking as dismal as it sounds. But it might whisk away a few of you, so take a look.

Dwayne Johnson Starring in 'Monster Hunters Survival Guide' Movie

Dwayne Johnson

Finally, a project for Dwayne Johnson, formerly "The Rock", to star in that actually sounds like it might be good. Deadline reports that Johnson is attached to star in an adaptation of the comic book miniseries the Monster Hunter's Survival Guide, published by Zenescope. The live-action adventure film is being produced by Simon Kinberg (Jumper, X-Men: First Class, This Means War) at his company Genre Films. The newly published book series by John Paul Russ is a comprehensive guide to hunting monsters, the undead and unnatural beasts, and survive the confrontations. I hope this turns out as awesome as it sounds.

Watch: Official Trailer for Cop Drama 'Rampart' with Woody Harrelson

Rampart Trailer

The most corrupt cop you've ever seen on screen. Yea, that's the tagline and it's a doozy. Millennium Ent. has released the official trailer for Rampart, directed by Oren Moverman and starring Woody Harrelson as the most corrupt cop in LA in the 90s. Ice Cube, Steve Buscemi, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Foster, Robin Wright, Anne Heche and Cynthia Nixon co-star. As interesting as this may look, I must trust the opinion of my friend Jordan of The Film Stage, who saw it at TIFF and asks: "How could someone that created such a tense drama with honest characters deliver such a disaster?" Ouch. Give this a look anyway!

Badass New Graphic Art 'Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance' Posters!

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Time to unleash hell! Yes! I've been waiting for these posters to hit the web. As a reminder for the on-going poster contest for Neveldine/Taylor's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (details here), Columbia has released at least four new graphic art posters that are just plain badass. These are actually my favorite bits of art, as we first saw them printed as huge banners on display outside at Comic-Con this summer, and now we have high res versions of the art online. Nicolas Cage returns as the flaming demon Ghost Rider in this sequel - watch the first trailer here. Check out these four new kick ass designs below for some inspiration!

Fandango's Mobile Phone Ticketing System Launching This Weekend

Fandango Mobile Tickets

They seem a little behind in catching up with this technology, as airlines already have it, but Fandango is finally opening mobile ticketing to the public this weekend. We first wrote about mobile phone movie tickets coming through Fandango in March of 2010, quite a while ago, and its taken this long to officially launch. Regal has partnered with Fandango for this week's opening of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and will be rolling out the ticketing program to more than 1,000 screens in the Regal circuit this weekend. The system simplifies ticketing to a barcode you pull up on a phone and show as a ticket, that's it!

First Unofficial Action Star-Packed Poster for 'Expendables 2' Revealed

The Expendables 2

Holy mountain of action movie stars! Our friends at JoBlo have revealed the first unofficial poster for The Expendables 2, which features a total of nine kick ass action stars all stacked/packed onto one one-sheet. Of course, Sylvester Stallone is up front and center, flanked by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. The Expendables has had some embarrassing production woes recently, including the tragic death of a stuntman and fines for damaging a protected habitat while filming, that I'm sure Lionsgate/Millennium wants everyone to forget. So here's a poster packed with stars, including Chuck Norris, in the meantime.

Joss Whedon Chats About Updating the Characters in 'The Avengers'

The Avengers

Joss Whedon Assemble! We just got a rather kick ass tease of new character artwork in the form of two big banners for Marvel's The Avengers, now it's time to get an updated from Whedon. Yahoo's Movie Talk posted an interview with director Joss Whedon today, and it features quite a few quotes about Avengers, specifically, about crafting a few of the characters for the film, including how Iron Man/Tony Stark has progressed, updating Captain America, and how Nick Fury fits into everything too. It's a solid update and as always, I love hearing Whedon actually talk in depth about characters and what they mean. Read on!

Review: 'Breaking Dawn Part 1' Takes it From 'Blah' to 'What the Hell?'

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 Review

The stance on the Twilight franchise between fans and critics is about as wide-gapped as Team Edward vs. Team Jacob. As much as the millions of "Twi-hards" love the first three films, there's very little denying among those who view them from a critical eye that the films are awfully constructed, horribly acted, and painfully dreary. In terms of the latest, Breaking Dawn - Part 1, you can rest in the comfort of knowing much of that still applies. The acting hasn't improved. The story is still shallow as a blood slide. But, Bill Condon, the fourth director of the franchise, realizes the outright insanity Stephenie Meyer injected into

Scarlett Johansson Set to Direct an Adaptation of 'Summer Crossing'

Scarlett Johansson / Summer Crossing

Yep, she's becoming a director, too, just like Madonna and Angelina Jolie. Variety is reporting that Barry Spikings, Oscar winning producer of The Deer Hunter, is backing and producing the feature directorial debut of actress Scarlett Johansson, who plays Black Widow in The Avengers next summer. She'll be taking on an adaptation of Truman Capote's 40s lost novella Summer Crossing, about an 18-year-old girl breaking free of her rich, smothering, family to discover her own identity and sexuality. Well, this sounds like an interesting step for Johansson, but she did direct the 2009 short These Vagabond Shoes just before.
