Watch: Stunning Look at the Year in Cinema with 'Filmography 2011'

Filmography 2011

We've already featured a fair share of videos recapping the decent year we've had in film throughout 2011, and while we've featured a couple pieces from some new editors on the scene, this one comes from someone we've featured before, and is well worth sharing. After this we'll slow down on the year in review videos, but this one is just too stunning to pass up. YouTube user Genrocks is back with Filmography 2011 (watch last year's installment right here if you missed it), and it's a finely crafted piece of work with great highlights from films like Limitless, Moneyball, The Ides of March, Bridesmaids, and more. Watch below!

Stephen Frears Set to Remake His 80's British Gangster Film 'The Hit'

Stephen Frears / The Hit

Just last month, High Fidelity director Stephen Frears came on board to direct the adaptation/remake of the Sundance selected documentary The Bengali Detective, and his adaptation of Lay the Favorite with Bruce Willis and Rebecca Hall will hit Sundance in January (stay tuned for our coverage next month). Now Variety has word that Frears is also set for another revamp of an old property with a remake of the 1984 British gangster flick The Hit. The film's original writer Peter Prince is working with Frears on the remake of his own film which takes the action of the UK film, and move it to Mexico and the United States.

Saoirse Ronan Will Lead Kevin Macdonald's Indie 'How I Live Now'

Saoirse Ronan / How I Live Now

In the past four years, 17-year old actress Saoirse Ronan has enjoyed quite an interesting round of films from Atonement to Hanna, and even a great performance in the The Lovely Bones, even if the film itself left something to be desired. Currently Ronan is shooting Byzantium and will also star in the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's The Host, as well as the teenage assassin flick Violet & Daisy with Alexis Bledel. Now Variety has word that the actress has also signed for How I Live Now, an indie drama from Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland, The Eagle) based on Meg Rosoff's 2004 novel of the same name.

Watch: New Trailer for Sci-Fi 'Lock-Out', or 'Escape From M.S. One'

Lock-Out Trailer

"Yea, I should've stayed in college." As awesome as this sci-fi movie looks, it's having an identity crisis. It was originally titled Lock-Out, or also Lockout (without a dash), but has now been retitled to MS One: Maximum Security in Europe, and Escape From M.S. One in the US (I wonder if that had anything to do with all the comparisons to Escape from New York?). Lock-Out stars Guy Pearce as a felon hired to go to a Maximum Security space station prison to rescue a girl, Maggie Grace. Thanks to Allocine we've got a new trailer in HD quality. It looks like some hard sci-fi, but still awesome, I'm excited to see this despite its title.

Neveldine Says 'Crank 3' is Happening, Wants Idris Elba to Be In It

Jason Statham in Crank

I love this quote about these movies: "Crank, basically, you insert another quarter and you play the game again. It's kind of like what thrills me and Brian [Taylor], it's whatever we feel like doing there in the moment, whatever we wanna do, we just do and make it happen." On Empire they caught up with Mark Neveldine, one half of the crazy Neveldine/Taylor duo that's currently finishing Ghost Rider: A Spirit of Vengeance (trailer here), and asked him briefly about any plans they have for Crank 3. If you saw Crank: High Voltage, you would think that's the end, but no way, this is a series that can (and will) live on forever.

Watch: A Bloody Wedding in Horror Prequel '[REC] 3 Genesis' Trailer

[REC] 3 Genesis Trailer

The infection has left the building. Thanks to a debut on Bloody-Disgusting, you can now watch the official trailer for Paco Plaza's [REC] 3 Genesis with English subtitles, even though they're not really needed. We've already seen one teaser for this prequel, but this new trailer gives us a better idea of the story and location (it's a wedding!). They also definitely upped the budget and the number of infected. However, I feel like they've started to jump the shark - it's no longer found footage and it just looks like s cheesy stuck-in-one-place, surrounded-by-zombies escape movie. Who knows, it could still be awesome. Check this out!

Surprising 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominees Announced

SAG Awards 2012

The nominees for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards have just been announced today. Yet another awards show in the very top tier (which also includes the Golden Globes and Academy Awards) is the Screen Actors Guilds Awards, where the actors themselves choose the best performances from amongst their peers. These nominees are usually very similar to those at the Oscars. This year they've got some surprising picks, including a lot of The Help (which I don't think any men saw), a lot of The Artist, a lot of The Descendants, and some random love for Warrior, A Better Life and Beginners. Read on for the list!

Watch: Amusing First Trailer for Sacha Baron Cohen's 'The Dictator'

The Dictator Trailer

Paramount has debuted the first full trailer for The Dictator, the new character and comedy created by Sacha Baron Cohen getting him back to his usual wacky self. This time he plays a ruthless Middle Eastern dictator, along the lines of Muammar Gaddafi, who's sent to America in exile and must live among the infidels. Unfortunately it looks more like Don't Mess with the Zohan than it does Borat, I'm not sure why he can't ever get back to that humor, but I'm holding out hope this is hilarious. Cohen is one of my favorites and I love seeing him take on a character as bold and edgy, yet still easy to make fun of, as this. Have fun!

'Moneyball' Star Chris Pratt to Lead Kathryn Bigelow's 'Kill Bin Laden'

Chris Pratt

Though some of the best moments in the thriving career of Chris Pratt come in the form of his starring roles on TV series like "Everwood" and "Parks & Recreation," the actor has also enjoyed some good supporting roles in films like Wanted and most recently Moneyball. Now Twitch has word that an unlikely role for Pratt is in the works with the actor in talks for a lead role in Kathryn Bigelow's action drama formerly known as Kill Bin Laden. The project was already in development before the death of the infamous terrorist, but upon Bin Laden's the death the film got a higher profile and needed to be reworked.

Watch: Official US Trailer for Ben Wheatley's Eerie Thriller 'Kill List'

Kill List Trailer

"They're bad people..." IFC Midnight has debuted via Yahoo the incredibly unsettling trailer for Kill List, a horror thriller from British filmmaker Ben Wheatley unlike anything you have ever seen before. Its been getting rave reviews at festivals all around, and plenty of the quotes you see in this hold up. I've seen it and it's about as eerie and wacky as you can get, but original and brilliant as well. Kill List stars Neil Maskell and Michael Smiley as two contract killers - and that's about all you need to know, and will know, about them. The music, which you'll hear used in this too, is what makes it so unsettling. So what is the Kill List?

T.J. Miller & Nick Swardson Cast in R-Rated Stop-Motion 'Hell & Back'

T.J. Miller & Nick Swardson

What the hell this is, it sounds awesome! Out of left field today via Deadline comes some casting news for an R-rated stop-motion animated comedy called Hell & Back, made by production company ShadowMachine Films. We don't see many of these, which is why there can never before enough of them. Starring, as presumably just their voices, in the lead roles are comedians Nick Swardson (Grandma's Boy, Bolt, Bucky Larson, 30 Minutes or Less) and T.J. Miller (Cloverfield, Unstoppable, Gulliver's Travels, Yogi Bear). Two hilarious guys who should certainly bring plenty of levity to this stop-motion flick, but what is it about?

New Experienced Duo to Direct 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2'

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

The dynamic duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller brought fantastic life to the adaptation of the classic children's book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, even if it deviated far from the source material, but now a different team will tackle the forthcoming sequel. Variety reports Sony Animation artists Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn will be at the helm of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, which, as we learned in July, will not be based on the sequel book, titled Pickles in Pittsburgh. At this point we don't know anything about the story, but the talent being lined up behind the camera doesn't have me worried in the slightest.
