Sequel Round-Up: 'Mission Impossible,' 'Gremlins' & 'Green Lantern'

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol

Finishing out the news week, there's seems to be some small buzz on the potential for some more sequels coming down the road. Most of these briefs aren't solid guarantees, but the updates are certainly worth noting. The first comes in the form of Paramount's pleasure at seeing Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol grossing $121 million worldwide so far, and the holiday weekend just started today. Moviehole says the numbers have executives at Skydance Productions wanting to put together a Mission Impossible 5 sooner than later, and it also has them eager to get that gestating Top Gun sequel off the ground as well.

Dan Aykroyd Joining Ferrell and Galifianakis for 'Dog Fight' Comedy

Dan Aykroyd

The new political comedy Dog Fight from director Jay Roach (watch the trailer for his political drama Game Change right here), already has a double dose of talent from "Saturday Night Live" with Will Ferrell taking one of the lead roles opposite Zach Galifiaiankis, not to mention a supporting role for Jason Sudeikis. But now another "SNL" veteran is getting thrown into the mix as Moviehole has learned that Dan Aykroyd will join the film which follows two rival politicians (Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis) running for a congressional seat in a small North Carolina district election. However, his role in the comedy isn't clear.

Must Watch: Kees van Dijkhuizen's Year-End Review in 'Cinema 2011'

Cinema 2011

After the last retrospective looking back at the films of 2011, we decided to slow down the influx of videos chronicling the year in cinema until one of our regular contributors showed up, and Kees van Dijkhuizen has come through with Cinema 2011, another fantastically edited piece of work from the guy who also brought us 15 Years of Fox Searchlight and all those director spotlights. Previously we've featured Cinema 2009 and Cinema 2010, but 2011 could very well be his best work yet with flashes of films like X-Men: First Class, Super 8, Crazy Stupid Love, My Week with Marilyn, Margin Call and more. Watch!

Watch: New TV Spots for Survival Movie 'The Grey' with Liam Neeson

The Grey TV Spots

"Nobody is going to find us, not here." Oh you've got see these new spots! Open Road Films has recently unveiled a couple of new TV spots for Joe Carnahan's The Grey, the new survival thriller starring Liam Neeson about a group of oil workers whose plane crashes in the freezing Alaskan wilderness (watch the full trailer). I had the chance to see this movie recently and it's absolutely incredible, a phenomenal film from start to finish, intense and thrilling and yet made with a subtle beauty that most survival thrillers don't have. I can't suggest it enough! The second spot comes from AICN and includes some of their quotes as well.

Check This Out: A Crafty Sweded Trailer for 'The Dark Knight Rises'

The Dark Knight Rises Sweded Trailer

Even though Michel Gondry's comedy Be Kind Rewind didn't make a big impression at the box office, it's left a legacy for filmmakers to make cheap, "sweded" versions of their favorite films for everyone on the internet to see. Here we've more recently seen recreations of The Avengers trailer, and now that same crew, going by the name Dumb Drum, has sent us a sweded version of the most recent trailer for The Dark Knight Rises. It's pretty funny, and even cunning the way some of the more special effects heavy sequences are pulled off with cardboard cutouts and paper materials, but most of all, it's just fun. Watch!

Seth Rogen Putting 'The B Team' Together for Disney's Spy Comedy

Seth Rogen

Disney just decided to revive their gestating animation feature The Snow Queen in the form of Frozen, and now the studio is progressing on development of a spy comedy they picked up about three years ago. Variety has word that Seth Rogen is joining The B Team as producer and even has an eye for starring in the action comedy about a top secret agent being kidnapped, thus leaving his tech support team and researchers to rescue him. Sounds like the action of Spy Kids combined with the comedy of The Other Guys, especially with that title playing off the junior varsity nature of a team not nearly as skilled as the iconic A-Team.

Pixar's Dinosaur Film Pushed Back & Replaced with Old 'Snow Queen'

The Snow Queen

While Disney and Pixar were hoping to release a yet-to-be-titled dinosaur project on November 27th, 2013, it sounds like the project has been pushed back to make way for an old project at the House of Mouse that has new life. A film called Frozen has been slated for that release date, but the project is anything but new as it's actually the new title for the gestating adaptation Hans Christian Anderson's The Snow Queen which we haven't heard about since 2009. The project was said to be another rare return to hand-drawn animation for Disney, but Bleeding Cool says the film is likely going to be computer animated now. Read on!

David Yates Ready to Helm an Adaptation of 'Your Voice in My Head'

Your Voice in My Head / David Yates

After Harry Potter franchise director David Yates ended up stepping away from Warner Bros. adaptation of The Stand, it sounded like it might be because of a big screen iteration of Doctor Who. However, since that project is apparently not really going anywhere, now Yates is looking to take on a smaller scale project. Screen Daily reports Yates is attached to direct an adaptation of Emma Forrest's memoir Your Voice in My Head, which Yates says is, "about a young woman who self harms and she visits this psychiatrist who helps her to learn to live again." Yes, that sounds like a departure from wizarding duels and magical action.
