'American Reunion' Brings Back Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy and More
Back in February of 2010 we learned that Universal Pictures, desperate for a hit, was looking to bake another batch of the raunchy, sex-filled American Pie comedy series. Then in April of 2010 we heard that Harold & Kumar franchise writers and directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg would bring their comedic sensibilities to the series. Now The Wrap has word that the film has finally been dubbed American Reunion and franchise stars Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy, and Seann William Scott have all signed on to reprise their roles for the sequel. And even more of the original cast is negotiating to return.
Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari and Jennifer Coolidge are all in negotiations to reprise their series roles as well. It seems strange that Alyson Hannigan isn't mentioned as being involved yet, but she does have a baby, and is part of the successful "How I Met Your Mother" series on CBS, so maybe she's been too busy to start working on a deal yet. I can't imagine there being a reunion of the whole gang without Jim's (Jason Biggs) wife being around, so here's hoping the actress returns as well.
I was thinking there might be a slight hiccup since it was revealed yesterday that Seann William Scott had checked himself into a treatment program "to address health and personal issues," but apparently his rehabilitation won't delay the production start date of May 24th. I'm not sure what to expect from this reunion since Universal hasn't exactly been on the ball lately, but since this raunchy comedy series holds a special place in the heart of my inner-teenager, I'm interested to see what the whole gang is up to now. How about you?
