Arnold Schwarzenegger Back to Acting in 'With Wings as Eagles'?
After being out of the acting game for years, action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger may soon find himself returning to the big screen. Since the Governator's final term ends this month, he will soon be just another out-of-work actor in California. However, his unemployment may not last long as The Arnold Fans (via ComingSoon) discovered a report from Krone.at that says Schwarzenegger is in the midst of considering three different scripts for his return. Though two of the potential projects remain a mystery, one such script is apparently a dramatic adventure called With Wings as Eagles from Braveheart screenwriter Randall Wallace.
Schwarzenegger revealed more information on this project, and here's a translation of what he had to say:
"Currently I'm reading three scripts. One topic/script, which I considered a long time ago before governor, is delighting me particularly. In it I would play an older [German] soldier, who gets the order at the ending of the war to kill a bunch of kids. But he doesn't do it and get them to safety at the risk of his life and it has all kind of adventure. This script is based on a true story!"
Apparently the script comes from the story about a German officer who disagrees with the Nazi party and helps American prisoners of war escape safely. Sounds like an old school action flick, and that's probably where Schwarzenegger fits best. However, the action game has changed slightly, and I'm not sure the brute strength of the action films from his heyday are going to be popular today. Though The Expendables got some people excited, it failed to be all that impressive. I'm happy to give Schwarzenegger a chance to get his Hollywood career back, but I'm hoping that he considers some comedies along with his usual action fare. How about you?
