Baldwin, Eisenberg and More Confirmed for Woody Allen's Next Film
by Ethan Anderton
June 20, 2011
His most recent film Midnight in Paris is a truly charming, whimsical and fantastic comedy (if you need more convincing, read Cate's review right here), and now writer director Woody Allen has revealed the cast for his next film called The Bop Decameron. Now we have word from an official press release on the cast that is coming together for Allen's film which will mark the director's first time shooting in Rome, Italy. In addition to confirming previous reports of Alec Baldwin and Jesse Eisenberg joining the cast, Academy Award winner Roberto Benigni has also signed on to star. But wait, there's even more! Read on!
The film will also have Vicky Cristina Barcelona star Penélope Cruz and Midnight in Paris actress Alison Pill reteaming with Allen as well as Greta Gerwig, Ellen Page, and Judy Davis coming along for the ride. Oh, and Allen himself will also be starring in the film. Rounding out the cast will be Italian actors Antonio Albanese, Fabio Armiliata, Alessandra Mastronardi, Ornella Muti, Flavio Parenti, Riccardo Scamarcio and Alessandro Tiberi. Of course, since it's a Woody Allen film, we still don't know what the film is actually about. Since The Dacameron is a collection of tales of love ranging from the erotic to the tragic, I'm thinking it has something to do with romance, perhaps in the age of jazz (hence the bop portion of the title). But anyone's guess is as good as mine. Anyway, if it has the same charm and quality of Midnight in Paris, we'll be in for a treat.
