Brian Cox Will Play Zach Galifianakis' Father for 'Dog Fight' Comedy
Looking back at the long resumé of Scottish actor Brian Cox, it's easy to see that he shines with dramatic roles in films Braveheart, the Jason Bourne series, X2: X-Men United and most recently Rise of the Planet of the Apes. However, Cox has also quite successfully lent his hand to comedic films like Rushmore, Fantastic Mr. Fox and of course, Super Troopers. Now the actor is poised to return to comedy yet again as Variety reports Cox has landed a role in Jay Roach's new political comedy Dog Fight playing a former senator who has always been distant with his family, especially his son being played by Zach Galifianakis.
In addition, Deadline recently reported that Dylan McDermott (who's enjoying success on "American Horror Story" on FX right now) had landed the role of Tim Wattley, a political consultant who runs the campaign of one of two rival politicians running for a district congressional election in a small South Carolina town. Galifianakis is playing one of the candidates while the other will be played by Will Ferrell. This is quite an impressive cast coming together for a promising comedy from writers Chris Henchy (The Other Guys) Shawn Harwell ("Eastbound & Down"). There's likely more casting coming so stay tuned.
