We are Sex Bob-Omb and we are here to make you think about Casting Tidbits and get sad and stuff! First up, Variety reports Brendan Fraser will star in the heist comedy Whole Lotta Sole from director Terry George (Hotel Rwanda). Thomas Gallagher also wrote the script with the director which follows a young man robbing a fish shop in order to pay off a gambling debt. But of course the heist goes terribly with humorous results and turns into a hostage situation. Fraser will portray the shopkeeper, who's on the run from his gangster father-in-law. Well, I guess anything is better than another piece of junk like Furry Vengeance hitting theaters.
Second, The Playlist recently spoke with Michelle Rodriguez (Avatar) whilst she was making the press rounds promoting Battle L.A., and the actress revealed that she will star in the supernatural horror flick The Home. Written by Eric Vespe (aka Quint from AICN), the film already has Dimension Films and Troublemaker Studios. The story follows a firefighter who is nearly killed during a failed rescue that leaves him physically and emotionally scarred. To recuperate, he is taken to a secluded nursing home where the elderly residents appear to be suffering from delusions. But after witnessing a violent attack, he soon realizes that the screams behind the walls are caused by more than hallucinations, and the residents are being preyed upon by twisted, monstrous nightmares that lurk within the home itself.
Also, though we won't see how she fares in Captain America: The First Avenger until this summer, THR reports Hayley Atwell will star in I, Anna, the feature film debut of writer/director Barnaby Southcombe. Charlotte Rampling (who also starred with Atwell in The Duchess) will also be in the film described as a London-set suspense thriller. The story follows a woman’s life being turned upside down after a date gone wrong, and the impossible love of the policeman tracking her down. Eddie Marsan, Jodhi May, Bill Milner and Honor Blackman also star.
Finally, The Playlist reports Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Robin Hood) has landed an unknown role in the action flick Medallion. The reunion of Con-Air director Simon West and actor Nicolas Cage follows a father and former master thief who has only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab. Malin Akerman is also in the film as Cage's ex-girlfriend who also happens to be a former bank robber.
That's all for this edition of Casting Tidbits! Be sure to stay tuned for more casting updates on the way!
