Check This Out: Vin Diesel in 'The Final Stand of Riddick' Concept Art
This new concept art may be a bit spoilery, but it doesn't matter because it's some cool concept art to keep hyping up one movie I'm incredibly excited about - Vin Diesel's new Riddick 3, which we now know will be R-rated. Diesel took to Facebook again to reveal another piece of concept art, which he's been doing for a while now as we've seen quite a few pieces over the year. This one is titled "The Final Stand of Riddick" and has him fighting what seem to be the big bad villain creatures he'll be up against in this movie. It's also awesome that this takes place entirely on one planet again, just like in Pitch Black. Check out the art below!
Though it doesn't even have an official title yet, the film was greenlit by Universal a few weeks ago and will begin shooting this fall up in Canada. David Twohy, of Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick before, it writing & directing again, with Diesel the only other person officially cast so far. Here's the new concept art:
Diesel explains, "in the spirit of Creative Sundays" that: "Concept art and Key frames allow a production to explore possibilities before actually committing to film. The road to the 'R' rating, that so many of you were vocal about, has been a long one. The advantage however, (never empower the negatives) was that we were allowed a really extensive preproduction. The art work is so good, the artists have really outdone themselves in illustrating this world at it's early stage." Looks awesome, I definitely can't wait to see this.
Diesel adds that, "when this film comes to the screen… know that you willed it into being!" referring again to the R-rating being the product of the masses being so vocal. As a reminder, here's the synopsis: Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction. A 2012 release is planned, but no date is set yet - we expect late 2012.
