Christopher Walken, Oliver Platt and More Are 'Gods Behaving Badly'
In what might be one of the more strange assemblies of on-screen talent we've every heard, Movieline has word on the cast coming together for an adaptation of the best-selling novel Gods Behaving Badly. The story follows Greek Gods who are currently living in a brownstone in New York City and get involved with a young couple named Kate and Neil and end up not only threatening the lovers' relationship but the future of humanity. Alicia Silverstone and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Lake House) are playing the young couple, but it's the casting of the gods that makes this a project to keep an eye on.
The line-up of Greek deities includes Sharon Stone as Aphrodite, Oliver Platt as Apollo, Edie Falco as Artemis, Christopher Walken as Zeus, Rosie Perez as Persephone, John Turturro as Hades, Gideon Glick as Eros, Nelsan Ellis as Dionysus, Phylicia Rashad as Demeter and Henry Zebrowski as Hermes. That's a lot of gods, and a lot of interesting names in one film. However, these gods aren't the all powerful, robe-wearing ones we're used to seeing in films like Clash of the Titans. This satire has them basically living as normal humans on Earth working shitty jobs as phone sex operators and dog walkers. The story was originally set in London but has been changed to New York City, because, well, why not? With a cast like this, I'm interested to see how this project turns out.
