Clive Owen and Mia Wasikowska Offered Roles in 'Oldboy' Remake
Normally we don't like to report on just potential casting when offers have only gone out to prospective talent, mainly because there are plenty of actors who get offered roles before a talent finally settles down for the project. But with the holidays just around the corner, the news flow is slowing down, even though we have some big trailers for The Dark Knight Rises and The Hobbit hitting later this week. So here we are with news from Twitch reporting that Clive Owen and Mia Wasikowska have both been offered roles in the gestating remake of Oldboy from director Spike Lee which already has Josh Brolin set to lead the film.
Owen has been offered the part of the villain after Colin Firth turned down the role a little while back after our initial report mentioned his potential casting. It would be a good reunion for Owen and Spike Lee after crafting quite a good heist film with Inside Man, so this casting seems likely to come together if Owen is interested. Meanwhile, Ms. Wasikowska has been offered the lead female role of Marie, a role that was offered to Rooney Mara who likely turned down the role not wanting to get caught up in another remake so quickly after completing The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Hopefully we'll get official word on casting for the remake relatively soon, so stay tuned as the film moves through development.
