Glenn Ficarra, Steve Carell and John Requa

The writing and directing duo has made a habit out of working with great comedic talent like Jim Carrey and Steve Carell and crafting dynamic films with them like I Love You, Phillip Morris and Crazy, Stupid, Love that contain just the right amount of comedy and drama. Now Glenn Ficarra and John Requa will re-team with Carell on yet another project that sounds like it has the same formula. Moviehole recently spoke with the filmmakers who revealed that they've already written a new untitled script based on an idea that Carell came up with himself. Though the actor won't star in the film he'll still produce. More below.

Requa said, "We’re working on something with Steve also, that he’s producing. He’s not starring but it’s based on the idea he had. We wrote the script already. It’s one of these three friends from college, but now they’re in their 40s, movies. They’re going on a European backpacking trip that that they never did. And it’s filled with all this middle-aged fun." I'm always a sucker for these types of coming-of-age films like The Big Chill that have old friends reuniting when they're supposedly grown-up, but their lives are nothing what they imagined them to be. And considering just how entertaining, but also touching and powerful Crazy, Stupid Love turned out to be, I have nothing but high hopes for this new project from the filmmakers. Stay tuned.

  • It didn't touch me that strongly, CSL, pretty formulaic in my opinion.
  • I just watched it yesterday and I loved it.
