Columbia Pictures has launched a new contest today as part of the Face of the Fan contest series. Aspiring artists and Ghost Rider fans can create a movie poster that shows off their creativity and design skills in the Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance contest. Fans can download various stock fire photography (like that fiery chain above) and some art pieces from the movie to design their own poster. The studio is looking for fan art that captures the excitement of the legendary character. We're hosting our own design contest, but here's another being run by a Hollywood studio! One top winner will receive a trip for two to the premiere.
Here's all the info from the press release: Fans can start by going to the Ghost Rider Face of the Fan website to view and download the digital assets to help the entrants create their original posters. Each entrant may submit up to three finished pieces that then express the tone of Ghost Rider and the anticipation for the film, which will be released in 3D in theaters on February 17, 2012. The entry period begins October 20th, and all entries must be submitted by November 21st at noon Pacific. Following that, the public will vote on the best designs from Dec. 12 through Jan. 4 (we'll post an update then). Official Rules are on their site.
One Grand Prize winner will receive a trip for two to the premiere of the film and the potential to have the winning poster featured in select theaters during the marketing campaign of the movie. Up to 10 Finalists each receive a $300 SonyStyle gift card. Sounds like a fun contest for Ghost Rider fans and designers alike.
Nicolas Cage returns as Johnny Blaze in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Johnny – still struggling with his curse as the devil's bounty hunter – is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church to save a young boy from the devil (Ciarán Hinds). At first, Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider, but it is the only way to protect the boy – and possibly rid himself of his curse forever. Directed by Neveldine/Taylor. Watch the first official trailer here, and we'll keep you updated, as I'm sure there's plenty more to come from this badass sequel before it hits theaters in February.
