Diane Lane Set to Play Martha Kent in Zack Snyder's New 'Superman'
Though we've seen rumors of actors like Viggo Mortensen, Daniel Day-Lewis and Kevin Costner for roles in Zack Snyder's comic book adaptation Superman: Man of Steel, today we don't just have another rumor for the film, but a solid casting update via a press release from Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures. Diane Lane (Secretariat, Jumper) has been cast as Martha Kent - mother to Clark Kent, secret identity of The Big Blue Boy Scout. Snyder commented on her casting: "This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman." Read on!
Snyder continued, "We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.” Of course Lane will spend plenty of time with Henry Cavill who snagged the role of Superman/Clark Kent. Now we'll just have to wait to hear if Kevin Costner will indeed be playing Jonathan "Pa" Kent as was rumored a little while back. The cast for Superman: Man of Steel, which isn't the official title (it's still "new Superman movie" at WB) will be filling out quickly as the movie inches closer to production start. Happy with Diane Lane as Martha Kent?
