Director Rob Cohen Will Lock & Load in the Desert for a 'Bullet Run'
After helming such adrenaline fueled films as xXx and The Fast and the Furious, director Rob Cohen is looking for some more high speed action with his next feature. Deadline reports the filmmaker will next be at the helm of Bullet Run, a new action from from writer Andrew Hilton which basically takes the car chases and action of The Fast and the Furious but this time it involves revenge and car chases in the topical and relevant location of Iran. The story follows the head of an elite private protection team and his former CIA agent wife who must infiltrate the closed borders of Iran to abduct a man who killed their daughter.
Of course, the abduction goes wrong, and the duo is forced to rely on their world-class driving skills and a fleet of high-performance street cars to travel 200 miles through a hail of bullets to keep alive the man they really want dead. Cohen says, "Bullet Run can be a unique and genre-bending action film with huge international appeal." If you replace unique with generic and genre-bending with mind-numbing, then we're on the same page. Honestly, the only film that I've mildly enjoyed form Cohen's filmography is Daylight, and that's not even a film I would go out of my way to watch again. However, I'll wait until I see a trailer to pass any real judgment on this new project.
