Disney Lines Up Tom Hanks and Tim Allen for 'Jungle Cruise' Movie

After the success of Pirates of the Caribbean, the House of Mouse was anxious to see what other theme park rides might have legs for feature films. While Haunted Mansion didn't exactly turn out very well (though a much more exciting version from Guillermo del Toro is on the way), the studio still hasn't given up on their theme parks for box office dollars. Disney has been trying to turn their tame boat ride Jungle Cruise into a feature film for awhile, but with no real progress. Now the studio seems to have found the key by getting Toy Story voice talents Tim Allen and Tom Hanks to star in this, even though it still doesn't have a director.
Deadline has the story on the theme park turned motion picture with writer Robert S.H. Schulman (Shrek, The Jungle Book 2) set to write the script. The ride itself has been a staple attraction since it's opening in 1955 even if it's not the most thrilling ride, but there's not much of a story to it. Basically you're on a jungle boat with a tour guide taking you through the rivers of Asia, Africa and South America with plenty of animatronic animals scattered throughout. Obviously there's the potential for a big action adventure, and the thought of Buzz Lightyear and Woody teaming up for a live action adventure (or is it animated?) is pretty enticing. I'll wait for a logline before getting to excited, but count me intrigued for now. What do you think?
