When it comes to this summer's animated sequel Cars 2 from Disney and Pixar, we've seen tons of promotional material from like the full theatrical trailer, a kick-ass vintage James Bond-like poster, and even a strange used car dealership viral video. Now a beautiful new triptych poster has just made its way online over at the official Apple trailer page for the film (via ComingSoon), and it's just as stunning as the Tron Legacy triptych we saw last year. Honestly, even though Cars is my least favorite of Pixar's films, the sequel looks like a fun Hitchcockian case of mistaken identity with a bit of classic Bond action thrown in.
Here's the stunning triptych banner for Cars 2 (click for the huge high quality version):
Cars 2 sees Lightning and Mater traveling around the world for the Race of Champions that includes other disciplines like Formula One. Mater ends up in a 'Hitchcockian' case of mistaken identity, saves the life of a British secret agent named Finn McMissile and becomes embroiled in a spy thriller but no one believes him.
Cars 2 is being directed by former Pixar producer Brad Lewis, who is making his directorial debut following producing work on Ratatouille. We've also heard that John Lasseter has returned to Pixar to help co-direct, and that has since been confirmed. Disney will be bringing Cars 2 to theaters everywhere in Disney Digital 3D starting June 24th in the middle of the summer. Look good?
