Disney Puts Reese Witherspoon on New Romantic Comedy 'Wish List'

Though her more dramatic turns in films like Water for Elephants and Walk the Line have been much more impressive than working on cutesy romantic comedies like Legally Blonde and Sweet Home Alabama, actress Reese Witherspoon still seems to have a penchant for the latter. Now Deadline has word on her taking on another film with lighter fare as Witherspoon is now attached to star in Wish List, a romantic comedy set up at Disney about an overly imaginative little girl who makes ten wishes at a wishing well. However, her coin never reaches the bottom, and she grows up to lose touch with her inner child.

As an adult, the woman has a successful career, but all that is thrown into upheaval when the stuck coin in the wishing well gets loose, falls to the bottom and causes all ten of the girl's wishes to come true at the same time. This almost sounds like it will have the same feel and tone of Bedtime Stories, but with a female lead instead (apparently it was originally written for a male lead, but is being retooled specifically for Witherspoon). Randi Mayem Singer (Tooth Fairy) is behind the script, but no director has been attached to the project yet. This could be a fun little flick, but knowing the way that most of these family friendly movies go, I won't hold my breath.
