First Image from Drew Goddard & Joss Whedon's 'Cabin in the Woods'
Back in April, we got hope that the shelved horror flick Cabin in the Woods, directed by Cloverfield writer Drew Goddard and written by the filmmaker and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly" mastermind Joss Whedon, might finally get sent to the big screen later this year. Lionsgate snagged the rights to distribute the film, and now we finally have our first look at what promises to be a new twist on the classic horror scenario of young people, including Thor star Chris Hemsworth, end up stranded in the woods when mysterious and even dangerous things begin to happen. See the first photo from the film below!

Obviously, it's some people in a cabin, and that cabin is more than likely stationed somewhere in the woods. But obviously the crew is captivated by something off-screen that has them all a little more than uneasy. Details on the films plot are pretty much non-existent at this point, but Bloody Disgusting has read the script and says that it will be Goddard's vision for the strange, bizarre screenplay that will allow this film to become a believable reality and potentially a great horror flick. Considering Goddard brought something fresh to the monster movie genre in writing Cloverfield, I have faith in his abilities, and can't wait to see how this turns out. We'll let you know as soon as we hear an official release date for the film, so stay tuned.
