'Grindhouse' Actress Rose McGowan to Lead Romantic Thriller 'Napa'
It's no secret that actress Rose McGowan definitely has a rough side. Though she was mostly a cutesy high school girl in Scream back in the 90's, since then she's has some ass-kicking roles in ex-fiance Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse flick Planet Terror and the mostly flat Conan the Barbarian most recently. Now it sounds like she's got another role prime for delivering some justice, but likely with a slightly less exaggerated and stylized package. THR reports McGowan has been slated to headline Napa, a film described as a romantic thriller from writer/producer Michael Kerr making his feature directorial debut.
In the film, McGowan will play Scarlett Harding who gets a job as Sheriff in her hometown of Napa after returning from three military tours of Afghanistan. It's not clear what conflicts or problems she's forced to deal with as Napa's new lady of the law, but she'll likely won't be taking any shit from anybody. Apparently the film is based on Hans Ostrom's novel Three to Get Ready, and the author co-wrote the adaptation with Kerr who is also producing and financing the production himself through his own production banner. McGowan isn't one of my favorite talents, but I'm interested to see what this flick is like.
