Interview: 'Captain America' Writers Chris Markus and Steve McFeely

July 20, 2011
Meet Chris Markus (L) and Steve McFeely (R), co-writers of the script for Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger, hitting theaters this weekend. If you haven't heard from either our glowing video blog reactions or any of the endless positive praise for the movie, these two deserve to be in the spotlight as they've written one of Marvel Studio's best movies. I had the opportunity to sit down an interview them for a full-on 20 minutes and we really get into Captain America, talking about all the decisions they made, inspirations, and everything else that went into crafting a kick ass—and my new favorite—superhero movie.
Watch our interview with Chris Markus & Stephen McFeely, writers of Captain America:
This is a very in-depth Captain America/Marvel Comics interview with Chris and Steve, as I wanted to ask them about as much of the interesting and unique elements of the movie as possible. If you're not familiar with the character (Cap) and his comic book mythology, this may be a bit spoilerish in a few moments, but they don't ruin or reveal any key moments of the film. I love being able to talk with writers/directors after seeing a movie I love (and our interview with Joe Johnston is coming tomorrow) because I love getting into all of the elements of the movie that I enjoyed so much. And with Captain America specifically, I felt like I could go on and on. I hope everyone enjoyed watching this full-on interview with the two Cap writers!
