'Jackass' Director Jeff Tremaine Ready to Plot 'Revenge of the Jocks'
Through comedies like Revenge of the Nerds, the pocket-protected crew has come out on top many times. But now a new project from Jackass franchise director Jeff Tremaine is going to give the big men on campus their time in the spotlight. THR reports the director will be at the helm of Revenge of the Jocks, a comedy from I Heart Huckabees screenwriter Jeff Baena that follows three men, once popular high school jocks, with their glory days behind them. The trio find themselves forced to adapt to a world run by the geek and nerd crowd, some of whom are only too eager to unleash their tormenting on the new underdog class.
Apparently the Warner Bros. purchased script was originally written by Rami and Etan Cohen (the latter of the writers was responsible for Tropic Thunder), and simply turns the Revenge of the Nerds story on its head. This could be fun, but I can't imagine it being much different than those 80's comedies other than the setting and time period change. However, it will be interesting to see how Tremaine handles comedy outside of documenting the stupid antics and stunts of the Jackass crew. Count me interested, but holding out for a trailer before fully judging. How about you?
