Jason Clarke Lands First Role in Kathryn Bigelow's Bin Laden Project
Wysocki's back! Aussie actor Jason Clarke, who kicked ass on Fox's outstanding but sadly cancelled series "The Chicago Code" playing Jarek Wysocki, is the first to be officially cast in Kathryn Bigelow's upcoming Osama Bin Laden hunting SEAL team project, formerly known as Kill Bin Laden and numerous other codenames. Deadline says that Clarke is the "first actor set" and will play a terrorist hunter in service of the U.S. efforts to hunt Bin Laden. Many big names, from Tom Hanks to Johnny Depp, have been mentioned before, but word is Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce and others are all up for roles, in addition to Clarke. Whoa!
From the sounds of it, Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow and writer/producer Mark Boal have rearranged and are looking at putting together a more robust, well-rounded group of actors than the big names mentioned before. In addition to Clarke, Hardy & Pearce, Deadline says that Jennifer Ehle (Contagion), Idris Elba, Rooney Mara and Nina Arianda (Midnight in Paris) are all "being discussed" for roles, but none of them are officially set yet. Hell, I'm just happy to see Jason Clarke land a role, he's one of my favorite actors on the rise and I'm glad to see him taking the "Chicago Code" ending as his chance to leap into movies, as he's also appearing in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby and The Wettest County in the World coming up, too.
