Jason Sudeikis Joins Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis for 'Dog Fight'
Aside from being one of the better current cast members of the long-running late night sketch series "Saturday Night Live," comedian Jason Sudeikis has enjoyed some great supporting turns (ironically both with Charlie Day) in films like Horrible Bosses and Going the Distance. Now Risky Biz says the actor will reunite with "SNL" alum Will Ferrell and The Hangover star Zach Galifianakis for the new political comedy Dog Fight. Austin Powers franchise and Meet the Parents director Jay Roach is at the helm of the new film which follows rival politicians in a cutthroat election in a small congressional district in South Carolina.
Originally the film said the story would follow Galifianakis and Ferrell as two candidates running in the 2012 presidential election, but that seems to have changed, unless the two politicians end up vying for the presidency and not just a congressional seat in South Carolina. Setting the comedy in a smaller political arena will make the comedy seem more believable since they're not under as much scrutiny as a presidential election anyway. Chris Henchy (who has written several of Ferrell's comedies) is behind the script along with Shawn Harwell. Considering Roach also directed the serious political film Recount, it will be interesting to have him working within the same subject area, but with a straight-up funny take on politics, especially with such a strong comedic cast like this.
