Javier Bardem

What's the most you ever lost on a coin toss, Mr. Bond? Though we've mentioned him a couple of times before, Oscar winning actor Javier Bardem is now confirmed and set to play the villain in Sam Mendes' soon to be underway production of Bond 23, that's rumored to be titled Skyfall, which honestly sounds accurate. Bardem himself confirmed the news speaking on Nightline last night, and Entertainment Weekly posts a few of his quotes. "I am very excited. My parents took me to watch the movies and I saw all of them. So to play that is going to be fun," Bardem said. I'm excited to see him as a villain, this should be awesome.

It was already confirmed back in July that Bardem, along with Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris, were signed and set for Bond 23, but it's good to get official confirmation he's playing the bad guy in it, too. "They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details," he said. We also recently confirmed that French actress Bérénice Marlohe would be joining the cast as a Bond girl, so the casting and production on this sequel is coming together, which is great to see. Mendes is in pre-production and I'm sure we'll see some official announcements and details coming soon leading up to its November 2012 release next year.

Revved!! Hopefully his villain will have a better haircut this time around.

I don't care what the villain looks like, as long as the director isn't imitating Michael Bay like Forster did with Quantum of Solace.

Sam Mendes won't pull that crap.  This is gonna be awesome.

Don't mind the weapons he carried around in that movie though.

I hope the climactic fight between Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem will knock everyone on their ass. I am waiting for a good hand-to-hand fight for Bond, not those brief fights he kept getting. Kurt Angle and Gary Daniels would be good secondary villains. There would be amazing fight scenes between each of them with Daniel Craig. There could be a fight sequence where Kurt Angle overhead belly to belly suplexes Daniel Craig through a glass wall and later executes the Angle Slam on him as well but Daniel Craig manages to beat him after a long, hard fight.

I hope they film in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Las Vegas and include several American actors. I’m sure that a press release is imminent with an official announcement for the title, cast, plot, etc.

Bardem has the potential to be one of the greatest Bond villains ever, so I really hope Sam Mendes delivers.

so i feel out of the loop when it comes to james bond movies (too devoted to the avengers), so my question is did they stop making the sequels to the bond movies with daniel craig???

If there's someone that can top Mads then Javier Bardem is one of them. Fantastic. I really want to see Mark Strong in a big, prestigous movie (I.E. not Green Lantern, not Sherlock, not Kick-Ass, not Robin Hood) but it's not like they're not gonna make another one.
