Jonah Hill & Mark Wahlberg Look to Round Up the 'Good Time Gang'
We've already seen Mark Wahlberg team-up with Will Ferrell as two struggling cops in The Other Guys, and next year we'll see Jonah Hill as an undercover cop alongside Channing Tatum in the big screen adaptation of 21 Jump Street. However, 24 Frames is reporting Wahlberg and Hill will come together for an action comedy of their own in the form of Good Time Gang. The film would see them playing two bumbling, party-happy mercenaries who decide to take on a more serious case involving a terrorist, only to find their mission complicated when they discover one of them is related to the target. Sounds like trouble!
Screenwriter Max Landis (son of Blues Brothers and Animal House filmmaker John Landis) is behind the script, but a director hasn't yet been hired. Since Wahlberg impressed me with his comedic turn in The Other Guys, I'm anxious to see what he can do with Hill. Also, now that Hill has lost a huge amount of weight for his turn in 21 Jump Street, it's not hard to believe that he can get caught up in some intense, physical action in a film that is being described as sort of a new spin on Lethal Weapon. Apparently the emphasis is more on the action than the comedy, so that will be something a little different for Hill, though Wahlberg has seen plenty of straight-up action. It sounds like this one is still early in development, but I'm definitely interested already.
