Kyle Chandler Joins Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe in 'Broken City'
Earlier this year, looking into a government cover-up in Super 8 took priority over coaching football for "Friday Night Lights" star Kyle Chandler (who finally earned an Emmy for his work on the final season of the series) and now the actor is moving into a different arena for his next project. Variety has word that Chandler has landed a role alongside Russell Crowe and Mark Wahlberg in Allen Hughes' political thriller Broken City. The film, written by new writer Brian Tucker, follows Wahlberg as a New York City detective hired by a powerful politician (Crowe) to identify his wife's lover, who is subsequently found and killed.
Barry Pepper also stars in the film as a mayoral candidate and Chandler is working at the core of his political team (though it's not clear how the two tie into the logline of the story). Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jeffrey Wright, Griffin Dunne and more also star in the film which is slated for a January 18th, 2013 release. More big screen roles for Chandler make for good news, and we'll also see him in Ben Affleck's Tehran hostage crisis film Argo as well. In addition, there's always the chance that "Friday Night Lights" could return to the big screen as we heard back in July, so Chandler could be quite a busy guy very soon.
