Shame First UK Trailer

Time to get your first look at the film all the critics are talking about. The Guardian has debuted the first UK trailer for Steve McQueen's Shame, his "controversial" but incredibly well-made drama about a sex addict in New York City. Michael Fassbender stars, giving one of the best performances of his life, along with Carey Mulligan as his sister, who shows up at his place throwing his life out of whack. It's one of my favorite films of the year and has been getting unanimous praise from everyone. This trailer does a perfect job capturing the tone of the film and should leave many of you very interested in seeing this. Take a look!

Shame is directed by Steve McQueen, who also wrote the script with Abi Morgan. The controversial and sexual drama stars Michael Fassbender as a 30-something living in New York City who can't control his sex life and sexual desire, and things get thrown out of whack when his "fragile" sister, played by Carey Mulligan, moves into his apartment. Fox Searchlight says, "Steve McQueen’s courageous exploration of modern life's extremes is breathtaking. He has crafted an extraordinary film that probes some of the deepest and darkest issues ever portrayed on screen." Fox Searchlight will bring Shame to theaters December 2nd.

Saw this at NYFF and loved it. It's a conflicting film, that really challenges your brain. Fassbender must get nominated for Best Actor. I haven't seen a performance like this in a while, and have a hard time imagining anybody topping that this year. Unfortunately, I think the trailer doesn't capture the essence of the film, and the powerful weight that it carries. That threesome scene is absolutely heart breaking to watch, it shreds your soul.

Fassbender will probably get nominated for A Dangerous Method, but this looks truly amazing. McQueens first film Hunger was unbelievably beautiful. I have the highest expectations for Shame.

i doubt he will get nominated for Method since many critics are calling the film a bore, with restrained, boring performances. He has way more chance to get in for shame.

looks interesting and Fastbender is a great actor but I hate trailers like this that give you no clue as to what the film is about.

Now, if you were to tell me what this was about without mentioning the director or actors I could care less. Movies/shows about sex addiction tend to be pointless and in your face. But this looks totally different. Great trailer, great actors, and I can't wait to see it!

  • Impressive trailer. Builds the tension well and hints at a deeper story that need not be revealed in this tease.

I can't help but feel a little violated.  Not because of the trailer or the subject matter, but because I've been finding Fassbender ever more sexy and a show stealer with an amazing presence lately.  So to come across this trailer is all too good a timing.  I'm marking this release on the calendar.
