We've featured his tremendous editing skills when he created a phenomenal end of the year retrospective for the films of 2010, and another great video he made to chronicle the 15 great years Fox Searchlight has had in the film industry. However, we've yet to highlight an ongoing series from Kees van Dijkhuizen as he chronicles a different director's body of work each month with a great montage of their films. This month it's Ridley Scott who gets the spotlight and it's apparently "“the biggest episode yet" with films like Gladiator, Alien, Blade Runner, American Gangster, Black Hawk Down and more. See it below!
Here's a look at [the films of] Ridley Scott from Kees van Dijkhuizen (via SlashFilm):
Over at Kees van Dijkhuizen's Tumblr, you can see a very detailed breakdown of why he chose certain shots and clips for the montage, and a list of all the films and music used in the video can be found on the YouTube page where it's hosted. As for the challenge of trying to embody the work of Ridley Scott in a short amount of time, he says, "You can’t capture his essence, and definitely not in 3 minutes. For a retrospective video I had to rely less on his persona and more on memories/iconic shots he’s made over the years." There's certainly some of his finest moments on film displayed here, and if you're interested, he's also crafted videos like this for filmmakers like Michel Gondry, David Fincher, Wes Anderon and more. You can see all those and many more of his videos right here. Pretty cool, right?
