New International Trailer for McTeigue's 'The Raven' with John Cusack
"I challenge the brilliant mind of Edgar Allen Poe a game of wits…" Another new international trailer for James McTeigue's The Raven, starring John Cusack as poet Edgar Allen Poe, debuted on TotalFilm (via Vlicious). The first trailer for this period murder mystery hit during Comic-Con and was received with a bit of negativity, but I'm a fan of McTeigue and his style and I hope this turns out great anyway. Luke Evans also stars, along with Alice Eve and Brendan Gleeson. This a shorter trailer so they pack in more horrific intensity quickly, but it's a strong improvement over that first trailer, I'm actually looking forward to this.

The Raven is inspired by the famous Edgar Allen Poe poem. McTeigue explained to us years ago that it's "an amalgamation of Poe's stories crossed with Se7en. It's about a serial killer loose in 1849 Baltimore." As for the actual plot, he stated that "at each murder that he does, the killer leaves a clue, and basically Poe is set against the clock to find someone before they die." The screenplay was co-written by Ben Livingston and Hannah Shakespeare. Relativity & Rogue Pictures will be distributing the film and have set a release date of March 9th, 2012 next year for The Raven, which will be here sooner than you know. Look any better?
