Official Viral Site for Lionsgate's 'Hunger Games' Finally Launched?

As fans of viral marketing, we found a website earlier this year that claimed to be a viral for Lionsgate's The Hunger Games adaptation, but it turns out it was unofficial and being run by fans (I won't link it for that reason). We've been waiting/hoping that Lionsgate would launch an official viral for the movie, and it looks like they finally have, in connection with the teaser trailer revealed this weekend. There's not much to it yet, but a viral site at thecapitol.pn (tip via Movie Viral) has launched containing a distorted image, a twitter link, and not much more. The tweet states: "The Capitol knows who I am. Identify yourself immediately."
Click on the image directly above to be taken to the new viral site. We're still waiting to see where this will go next, but if you're a Hunger Games fan then bookmark the site, tweet it out, and stay tuned for updates.
The Hunger Games is both written and directed by Oscar nominated filmmaker Gary Ross, director of Seabiscuit and Pleasantville previously, but also writer of Big, Mr. Baseball, Dave, Lassie, Pleasantville and Seabiscuit. It's adapted from Suzanne Collins' popular series of novels, first published in 2008. Lionsgate is bringing The Hunger Games to theaters everywhere starting March 23rd, 2012 next spring. Excited yet?
