Can you survive... The Grey?! Open Road Films has announced via Deadline an official release date for Joe Carnahan's new "action-packed survival thriller" titled The Grey, starring Liam Neeson as an oil pipeline worker whose plane crash in the remote Alaskan wilderness. Also stars Dermot Mulroney, Frank Grillo, James Badge Dale and Joe Anderson. The film will hit theaters nationwide starting January 27th, 2012 next year, same weekend as Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes. It was produced independently by Liddell Entertainment and shot up in British Columbia, Canada. It might also get a short run to qualify for Oscars.
In The Grey, written by Carnahan & Ian Mackenzie Jeffers, Liam Neeson leads an unruly group of oil-rig roughnecks when their plane crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. Battling injuries and merciless weather, the survivors have only a few days to escape the icy elements – and a vicious pack of rogue wolves on the hunt – before their time runs out. Always the wolves, why are wolves so mean to humans, sheesh? The Grey is produced by Jules Daly, Joe Carnahan, Ridley Scott and Mickey Liddell. I actually really want to see this, and if they have an Oscar run in LA like Deadline hints, I'm totally there. I want to see if Liam Neeson really delivers, and I'm curious to see what Joe Carnahan has been up to since A-Team. Stay tuned!
