Peter Stormare

The cast already includes Jeremy Renner & Gemma Arterton as the titular characters in Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, but now one of my favorite character actors working today has joined. Deadline reports Peter Stormare (Minority Report, Constantine) will join the cast of Tommy Wirkola's dark, twisted take on the classic fairytale. Stormare will play a villainous town sheriff named Berringer in a story that sees the two siblings as full-time killers whose primary targets are witches like the one who terrorized them at such a young age. Though it's not clear how big his part will be, Stormare is a welcome addition to any film.

Famke Janssen also joined the cast earlier this month, though her role has yet to be disclosed. Surely plenty more casting is going to be revealed sooner than later. Sounds like Wirkola's entertaining spin on zombies with Dead Snow has gotten plenty of talented actors interested in the project. It probably also helps that Adam McKay and Will Ferrell are producing through their Gary Sanchez production banner for a project unlike anything they've done before. This definitely continues to be one of my most anticipated fairytale remixes on the way. What do you think?
