After tackling tongue-in-cheek horror in the form of the bloody and raunchy Piranha 3D, director Alexandre Aja is taking on a more serious thriller from the offspring of a horror legend. Heat Vision reports Aja is set to direct an adaptation of Horns, the novel from Joe Hill, son of author Stephen King, which tells the story of a 26-year-old man who wakes up with a massive hangover and discovers horns sprouting from his head. He becomes convinced that their existence and a strange new power to go with them is somehow tied to the unsolved murder of his girlfriend, and the guy sets out to get revenge. Read on!
Back in March it was said that Shia LaBeouf was attached to star in the project, but this update makes no mention of the actor's involvement. Aja is slated to begin production on the adaptation written by Scott Bunin sometime in the late spring or early summer before moving onto Cobra later in the year. It sounds like a unique story, and if Hill's inherited any of the talent that has made his father such an icon in horror, then this should make for a twisted tale of love and vengeance. Hopefully casting news comes soon.
