Rachel Weisz Also in Talks to Join Jeremy Renner in 'Bourne Legacy'
Just recently we learned that Rachel Weisz was closing in on taking a role as one of the witches in Sam Raimi's Oz: The Great and Powerful over at Disney. However, Deadline reports the actress is now up for another high profile role. Apparently Weisz is in deeper talks to take the lead female role in the franchise spin-off The Bourne Legacy with Jeremy Renner. The role would have her playing an operative from a covert government program that is even more dangerous than the Treadstone brainwashing program that hatched Matt Damon's Bourne character. Though the story exists in the same universe, the character is new.
There's a slight chance that Weisz will be able to take both roles, but her schedule will be very tight. Apparently The Bourne Legacy is supposed to shoot in September, while Oz: The Great and Powerful will shoot in the summer. However, if she's unable to do both films, it sounds like Universal franchise spin-off will be the project she ends up taking in the end. It would be great if Weisz could take two big roles like this after staying relatively low key with films that haven't gotten much attention at the box office in the past couple years (even if The Brothers Bloom was one of the best films of 2009). Which project would you rather see Rachel Weisz join?
