Robin McLeavy in The Loved Ones

Briefly: Another update on Timur Bekmambetov's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which now has a cast that includes Benjamin Walker as Abe Lincoln, Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper. Latino Review is reporting that, despite auditioning other big names like Mary Elizabeth Winstead, it is Australian actress Robin McLeavy who will be playing the role of Mary Todd, Lincoln's love interest and eventual wife, in the film. Todd is described in the script as a petite 20 year old brunette. Sounds like she's a perfect fit! McLeavy appeared in 48 Shades and starred in The Loved Ones (trailer), but this will be her first big Hollywood role.

The Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter story kicks off with the revelation that Lincoln's mother was killed by a supernatural creature, which fueled his passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers. The book depicts the 16th US president as an axe-throwing highly trained vampire killer. With shooting already set to start later this year and a June 22nd, 2012 release date from 20th Century Fox we should expect to hear more about this adaptation and more casting as Bekmambetov continues work in pre-production. The more I hear about this, the better it sounds, like a good ole vampire action flick lead by Honest Abe himself.

Wow, that's great for her. I hope that she doesn't completely turn her back on Australia like so many do once they get their start in the US.
