Though his last directing effort with The Conspirator left something to be desired, Robert Redford will likely overshadow that film with his next effort The Company You Keep. The cast already includes impressive names like Shia LaBeouf, Susan Sarandon, Julie Christie, Nick Nolte on a path back to glory and breakout Sundance actress and writer Brit Marling. Now Screen Daily reports Stanley Tucci (Captain America: The First Avenger) and Chris Cooper (The Town) have also joined the film based on Neil Gordon's novel of the same name which has been adapted by Lem Dobbs, the man behind Haywire and The Limey.
For those just joining us, the film follows a former Weather Underground member (Redford) who is pursued by a reporter (LaBeouf) hell-bent on exposing his identity as a former political radical and his involvement in a botched robbery. Tucci is set to play the reporter’s editor while Cooper plays the brother of Redford’s character who takes his niece under his wing when his brother goes underground to evade the FBI. This sounds like it could have the suspense and drama as All the President's Men, and while Redford may not necessarily be aiming that high, I have no doubts that he could make that comparison a worthy one.
