Though I was unable to catch the hard-hitting romance Like Crazy (a film that has been called Blue Valentine for a younger crowd), the Sundance selected feature did get picked up by Paramount, so we'll all get a chance to see it eventually. Now the team behind that film has set up their next project at Paramount as well as 24 Frames reports director Drake Doremus (above) will be at the helm of an adaptation of Emily Hainsworth's novel Through to You which will be written by Ben York Jones and produced by Jonathan Schwartz. Sticking within youth territory, the story is easily described as a teen-centric sci-fi romance.
The novel has not yet been published, but is set to be released sometime in 2012. The story is said to follow a grieving teen who discovers a parallel world in which his girlfriend is still alive only she’s harboring some dangerous secrets, and he will soon have to make some devastating life choices . It seems ironic that this filmmaking team who debuted Like Crazy at Sundance is behind this film since Another Earth was also at the festival, a film that uses the same parallel world concept as a backdrop for a tragic romance.
It sounds like Doremus and his crew will simply be expanding their take on young romance with a sci-fi twist, and if the buzz about Like Crazy is any indicator (the film did win the Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic after all), we might be in for another great flick. What do you think?
