Tommy Lee Jones Likely to Join Meryl Streep in 'Great Hope Springs'
Back in February we heard that The Devil Wears Prada director David Frankel and star Meryl Streep would reunite for a relationship comedy called Great Hope Springs. The story would follow a couple who puts their future in the hands of a marriage counselor for one weekend when their relationship hits some serious bumps after 30 years together. Streep was set to play the wife and later Steve Carell was brought on board to play the marriage counselor, but no actor had been cast as the husband yet. Now Deadline reports that Tommy Lee Jones has emerged as the frontrunner to star opposite Streep to round out a great cast so far.
It's not clear if any other actors are still in the running for the part or how soon an official deal might be made, but the prospect of having Jones, Streep and Carell in the same room working through relationship problems has the potential for both great comedy and drama. It's been awhile since Jones has done comedy, but he's part of the reason the first Men in Black had so many laughs along with the sci-fi action. The next year should prove to be a big one for Jones as he's starring in Captain America: The First Avenger and is currently working on the troubled production of Men in Black 3. Of course, any movie would be just fine with more Tommy Lee Jones. Thoughts?
