Trent Reznor to Score & Act in 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'
Whoa! Looks like Trent Reznor, frontman for the band Nine Inch Nails and now Oscar winning composer, has really caught the Hollywood bug. EW has confirmed a story originally reported earlier this week saying that Reznor will not only be scoring, but also briefly appear in, Timur Bekmambetov's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter adaptation, which is shooting this year for a summer 2012 release. Reznor will compose the score for the period action-horror movie, and play Jack Barts, the vampire who kills Lincoln’s mother and sets the hero on his path of righteous vengeance. Hell yes! This sounds even better with every update.
The Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter story kicks off with the revelation that Lincoln's mother was killed by Bart, which fuels his passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers. The book depicts the US president as an axe-throwing highly trained vampire killer. Bekmambetov's cast already includes Benjamin Walker as Abraham Lincoln, Anthony Mackie as his friend Will, Dominic Cooper as his mentor Henry Stugress, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Lincoln's wife Mary Todd. Shooting starts this year and 20th Century Fox has already scheduled a June 22nd, 2012 release. I'm just a bit more excited knowing Reznor is involved! Between this and Fincher's Dragon Tattoo, there's lots of great movie music to look forward to.
