Vera Farmiga

Last July we learned that Denzel Washington would be taking shelter in the thriller Safe House from director Daniel Espinosa (Snabba Cash). Then we got word last August that Ryan Reynolds had added the project to his busy schedule playing a young agent assigned to escort a dangerous criminal (Washington) to safety after they are attacked at a safe house. Now Deadline has word that Vera Farmiga has also joined the cast with production already underway. The role may seem a little familiar after her collabortation with Jake Gyllenhaal in Source Code since she'll be playing a CIA operative supervising Reynolds' character.

In addition, the cast has already been filled out spectacularly with the likes of Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges), Liam Cunningham (Clash of the Titans), Robert Patrick (Walk the Line) and Sam Shepard (Black Hawk Down) all having roles in the film as well. The pairing of Washington and Reynolds is reason enough to see the film, but I'm also looking forward to seeing how a promising director like Espinosa handles a big thriller like this with such an amazing cast. How about you?

She's always good in her chosen roles, this will be great for Farmiga.

I was in Cape Town, working on an HBO television series when they started production on this, which was about two months ago. I'm just thinking it's really late for them to still be casting, but I'm sure it'll turn out good in the end.
