When it comes to superhero movies, Marvel Studios has been getting better and better ever since bringing us Iron Man in 2008. I've had the opportunity to see their latest cinematic origin story, Captain America: The First Avenger, the last solo movie before The Avengers, and it may be their best yet. I truly mean it, I loved it. It's an awesome movie, with great writing, great performances, a damn good story, and none of the setbacks that other Marvel films have. I had such a blast watching it (in 3D) and can't wait to watch it again. After the screening, Peter from SlashFilm and I recorded a quick video blog on our reactions to the movie.

I'm a big fan of most WWII-set movies and I expected to enjoy Captain America, but it still passed my high expectations, it really kicked ass and there's so many awesome scenes I wish I could watch over and over, especially the action moments. Chris Evans is a perfect Cap/Steve Rogers and brings the character to life so well, the action is never overdone, the script is just fantastic, it moves along at a swift pace and leaves you wanting more (in a good way). Honestly, I think it's director Joe Johnston who deserves a lot of the credit for making this on a Marvel Studios budget yet delivering a movie that I would even say is more entertaining than Thor and Iron Man. Can't wait to see it again (but not in 3D), just one time was definitely not enough.
