[REC] 3 Genesis Trailer

The infection has left the building. Thanks to a debut on Bloody-Disgusting, you can now watch the official trailer for Paco Plaza's [REC] 3 Genesis with English subtitles, even though they're not really needed. We've already seen one teaser for this prequel, but this new trailer gives us a better idea of the story and location (it's a wedding!). They also definitely upped the budget and the number of infected. However, I feel like they've started to jump the shark - it's no longer found footage and it just looks like s cheesy stuck-in-one-place, surrounded-by-zombies escape movie. Who knows, it could still be awesome. Check this out!

Watch the new full trailer for Paco Plaza's [REC] 3 Genesis, originally via Bloody-Disgusting:

Paco Plaza and Jaume Balaguero, who co-directed both [REC] and [REC] 2, are co-developing this prequel as well as the sequel [REC] Apocalypse, together, but then each will go solo for the directing gigs with Plaza helming Genesis and Balaguero taking Apocalypse. Genesis will explore the origins of the mutant virus that has turned people into zombies (which was only partially explained in [REC] 2) with co-writer Luis Berdejo returning to write the prequel with Plaza. The film stars Leticia Dolera, Diego Martín and Javier Botet and is set to hit theaters in Spain in March 2012. Stay tuned for any US release details.

  • I absolutely loved the first two.  They had a great plot going there.  This looks to be going in a different direction though.

That trailer is much better than the one in the original post.  The first film is in my top 5 favorite horror films of all time so I really hope they don't screw it up.
  • Hey remember when they remade the first as Quarantine and everyone hated it?

there was/is nothing wrong with quarantine - i liked it. as far as THIS topic - i liked rec2 better than rec1 - but both (like quarantine) were fun watches.....and this one looks to continue that. i'm not expecting an overall, well-rounded movie when watching this particular horror genre.  it's all about the undead/infected for me.......good times.......good times.

I don't know why they'd abandon the found footage style. This just looks...well...average.

maybe because "found-footage" is over-used and getting boring?

The wait is way too long. Loved the first two.
  • Kill Bill meets Resident Evil?

Genesis makes it sound like this is where the infection started. I don't think that's the case.
