Tetsuo: The Bullet Man Trailer

Rage mutated him… Revenge transformed him… He is… The Bullet Man! This obviously won't appeal to everyone, but it's worth watching because of how insane it looks. CHUD debuted the US trailer for Tetsuo: The Bullet Man, but it was Quicktime so we embedded it below. The film features a soundtrack by NIN's Trent Reznor and I think you can hear some of it in this. It's the third film from Shinya Tsukamoto's cult sci-fi series that started with Tetsuo: The Iron Man in 1989, but it's the first English film in the series and boy does it look totally nuts. The Bullet Man in this one is played by Eric Bossick. Watch at your own risk!

Watch the official US trailer for Shinya Tsukamoto's Tetsuo: The Bullet Man:

The series has been described as a "cyberpunk nightmare" with hints of David Lynch and Cronenberg. After his son is killed by a hit and run, Anthony loses control of his body. Little by little, his cells turn into iron.

Tetsuo: The Bullet Man is both co-written and directed by cult Japanese filmmaker Shinya Tsukamoto, who started this with Tetsuo: The Iron Man then Tetsuo II: Body Hammer, and directed Bullet Ballet, A Snake of June and Nightmare Detective 1 & 2. It was co-written by Tsukamoto and Hisakatsu Kuroki (Nightmare Detective 2). This premiered at the Venice Film Festival and also played Sitges, San Sebastián and Tribeca. IFC Midnight is opening Tetsuo: The Bullet Man in limited theaters starting on January 21st this month.

Just to be clear, Trent Reznor only did the song for the end credits as Nine Inch Nails. The song has been available to download for quite some time now.

So, where was the 'over the top batshit insane' stuff that the article promised? Hell, 'Legend of the Gaurdians' was more over the top than this.

I watched the first one, Tetsuo: The Iron Man and man, was that the weirdest thing I've ever watched, or was that the weirdest thing I've ever watched!... and not in a good sense!

I'm gonna be honest, this looks pretty interesting. People tend to give japanese films a lot of crap, but a I find that most of them have pretty interesting core ideas, its just that western and eastern movie making can be so different. I am familar with the Testuo series, so I think I'll check this out.

This is also already available on Netflix. It's not really worth it, though, in my opinion. The first one was really, REALLY weird, completely insane and had serious mindfuck potential, but I think this one fell a little short. It is still a crazy movie with some headache inducing camera work, and the effects look a LOT better than in the previous Tetsuo film. Definitely a "What...the fuck did I just watch?!" experience.

I swear the car's screeching breaks sound effect you hear in the beginning of this trailer is lifted right from Tetsuo:Iron Man.
