Woman in Black Teaser Trailer

Hammer Films has debuted the first teaser trailer via IGN for their retelling of the classic ghost story The Woman In Black, starring Daniel Radcliffe in one of his first lead film roles since wrapping up Harry Potter. This is such a great brooding, creeping trailer that will hopefully keep people interested in this until it ever gets released (October in the UK, but no release date in the US yet). It's more of a classic ghost story known to Europe than it is the US, but there's something to it, something mysterious I'm already interested in. It's a short trailer that doesn't reveal much, so without further ado, fire up The Woman in Black teaser.

Watch the first teaser for James Watkins' The Woman In Black, originally via IGN:

A young lawyer (Daniel Radcliffe) travels to a remote village to organize a recently deceased client's papers, where he uncovers tragic secrets and encounters the ghost of a scorned woman set on vengeance.

The Woman In Black is directed by British filmmaker James Watkins, of the horror Eden Lake previously. The screenplay was written by Jane Goldman, of Stardust, Kick-Ass, The Debt, X-Men: First Class, adapted from Susan Hill's classic novel. Momentum Pictures is distributing in the UK, but a US release date hasn't been set yet, so we're not sure when to expect this in theaters. Stay tuned for details! Anyone interested?

I'm interested. That was a good teaser.
  • Radcliffe has become an amazing actor. I have high hopes for his career. Even though I enjoyed Part I of the 7th Harry Potter, I felt that the 6th film really captured his talent. He had passion, intensity, and an amazing new ability to be incredibly subtle. It showed how much he could say with a character with how little he was doing. That's a talent not often seen in many young actors. This looks good, as well...

48 seconds of cleverly paced creepiness and I want to see more. Daniel Radcliffe is a talented young actor. Looking forward to the US release date for this flim.

I'm glad HAMMER is back and doing their thing, and Radcliffe's a decent actor. It's nice that he's doing something that's a little different and a little cool. I'll see it.

What HAMMER are you talking about?

Good teaser to get me excited enough.

I'm not someone that normally gravitates towards horror movies at all, but this looks really interesting. If the story can keep up with the eerie ambiance, I'll definitely see it.
  • Will the film release in India? This was an eerie, creepy teaser- the horror came out very subtle, unstated and implied.

Very poor lighting, and not much of a teaser.
    • I think that was more of the quality of the youtube video. Without HD, most videos look grainy and poorly lit.

    eeeep. creepy-ass music. looks interesting!
  • The original is so good, it doesn't need a remake.

Does anyone else seem to think this was a terrible first teaser? I have big hopes for Radcliff after Harry Potter. Would like to see him make it as a diverse actor after playing the same role for 12 years, but alas, we shall see.

no not really that's what a teaser is supposed to be like.
  • Am I the only one who thinks Radcliffe isn't a very good actor?
  • Dustin Fuston
After Harry, it will be tough to watch Daniel and not think of him as The Chosen One, but I sure will give him every chance he deserves til he steers me wrong!

I'll be seeing it as Goldman is one of the best writers out there at the moment.
